As a Dimensional Controls Quality Engineer at Tesla, you will play a crucial role in integrating and maintaining dimensional inline Vision and inspection and metrology systems into our production line with a strong focus on quality manufacturing, measurement devices, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), PROFINET, PROFISafe, OPC-UA, IO-Link, Vision system Software and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
What You'll Do-
System Integration and Programming: You will be responsible for programming and debugging PLC Logics (Siemens TIA Portal) as well as Human machine interfaces (HMIs) using Tesla SICAR standard
-
You should have a deep understanding of automation technology , adapt to existing systems and continuously attempt to improve the current systems as well as adding new technologies to the lines or stations
-
Safety Systems: You will design and implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high volume manufacturing equipment
-
Measurement Systems: You will be involved in the commissioning of various kinds of metrology and vision systems, maintain documentation for those systems with a focus on inline Vision Tunnels (Eines Vision Systems). This will involve close collaboration and coordination with vendors to ensure a smooth commissioning phase and system launch
-
You will Adopt a hands-on approach to train technicians to increase the reliability and credibility of the tunnels. You will solve complex quality challenges through the use of advanced statistical analysis and data-driven methodologies. Additionally, you will develop and manage Dimensional Quality KPIs and tracking systems, such as CyberApp
-
You will monitor Gap and Flush data using CyberApp and Eines Vision software. Furthermore, you will oversee data from inline/at line measurement systems, including Perceptron, Nikon, INOS, and Polyrix, and provide technical support as determined by the needs of the line or projects. This will ensure data-driven decision-making, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement. You will also address troubleshooting related to dimensional quality engineering responsibilities, as required
-
Project Management: You will participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits. You will also manage equipment suppliers during specification, design, buyoff and installation of automated manufacturing equipment
-
Process Improvement: You will introduce automated processes into production and train and equip Sustaining Team to support automated equipment after deployment into production. You will also establish test plans and control test plan execution
-
Debugging and Optimization: You will debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time and uptime as well as measurement accuracy
-
Documentation and Compliance: You will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of all dimensional inspection systems and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations
