We are looking for an Environmental Application Engineer to join our European team and play a key role in delivering high-quality technical solutions that help our customers collect reliable, meaningful environmental data.

You will combine scientific knowledge, problem-solving skills, and customer engagement to support universities, research institutions, national meteorological organisations, and industry partners across Europe.
Working as part of a global, innovation-driven organisation, you will provide technical guidance, application support, training, and product expertise, while helping customers successfully deploy and optimise Campbell Scientific monitoring systems.
Provide first- and second-line technical support to customers and internal teams on Campbell Scientific instrumentation, sensors, data loggers, and software.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing accurate and timely solutions.
Support system configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing operation.
Develop and maintain strong technical knowledge of environmental monitoring applications, including hydrometeorology and related measurement techniques.
Advise customers on system selection, configuration, deployment, and best-practice measurement approaches.
Support the successful implementation of monitoring solutions across a range of environmental applications.
Build trusted relationships with customers, including universities, research institutions, and national hydrometeorological organisations.
Act as a technical advisor throughout the customer journey.
Support technical enquiries, product demonstrations, system commissioning, and customer consultations.
Deliver technical training on environmental measurement applications for internal teams and external customers.
Develop supporting materials and share knowledge to improve technical capability across the organisation.
Provide training in local languages where appropriate.
Create and maintain technical documentation, application notes, and support records.
Provide technical information to Production and Operations teams, including support for bespoke solutions and non-standard products.
Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Research teams to deliver effective customer solutions.
Stay up to date with developments in environmental science, monitoring technologies, and industry standards.
Gather customer feedback and provide insight into product performance, customer needs, and opportunities for improvement.
Promote best practice in data quality, measurement reliability, and system performance.
Travel across Europe and occasionally internationally to support customers, deliver training, and attend meetings (up to 25%).
Establish and deliver measurable objectives aligned with Campbell Scientific’s environmental strategy and business goals.
We are seeking a technically confident and customer-focused environmental professional who can translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions.
Significant experience working within environmental monitoring, environmental science, or related technical markets.
Experience advising universities, research organisations, government agencies, or meteorological organisations on technical matters.
Strong understanding of environmental instrumentation and measurement techniques.
Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and data management capability.
Customer-focused approach with experience building effective professional relationships.
Proactive, innovative, and solutions-focused mindset.
Strong appreciation of data quality, measurement consistency, and best-practice approaches.
Full clean EU driving licence.
Willingness and eligibility to travel throughout Europe and internationally when required.
Right to work within the EU.
Degree-level qualification or above in an environmental science discipline.
Postgraduate or PhD-level study would be advantageous.
Additional professional qualifications in sales, business, or related disciplines would be beneficial.
Fluent English is essential.
French and/or an additional European language would be highly desirable, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively in writing and verbally.
