Change starts with us, but also with you.
This involves the development and application of our cutting-edge micro- and nanotechnology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS).
We in the »Data Communication & Computing« division are using our work to enable novel communication networks for autonomous driving, high-performance interfaces in industry, and new approaches in aerospace. Our focus is on various solutions for Ethernet TSN, CAN, LIN, and RISC-V, as well as optical wireless communication (LiFi). We develop everything from innovative demonstrators to miniaturized modules and successfully support our customers in system development as well as in mixed-signal and digital design for FPGAs and ASICs.
Help us drive change and become part of our team!
Be part of change
- Communication IP Cores: Independently develop optimized TSN, CAN/LIN, and RISC-V solutions in Verilog or SystemVerilog.
- Creativity: Conceive and implement sophisticated system-on-chip designs to actively drive innovation and progress with us.
- Project Management: From requirements analysis to testing, you will independently oversee the development of new customer systems as part of exciting development projects.
- Customer Support: Close and professional customer support is the foundation for strengthening our customers’ satisfaction and trust. You’ll also support our colleagues in Business Development whenever your technical expertise is needed.
- New Technologies: Do not just stay up to date—actively participate in the practical implementation of the latest technologies and constantly broaden your horizons.
What you contribute
- Degree: You have completed a degree (Bachelor’s or Diploma (UAS)) in electrical engineering, microelectronics, computer science, or a comparable field of study.
- Expertise: You now have at least 2 years of professional experience and the associated technical knowledge.
- Digital Design Expertise: You have very strong knowledge of VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog and have successfully applied these languages in digital design for Xilinx, Intel, or Lattice FPGAs or ASICs. You are familiar with the relevant toolchains (particularly Vivado and Cadence), development workflows, and know how to effectively apply timing constraints. You have independently applied this knowledge in at least one successful design.
- Work Style: You find it easy to organize and structure your daily work. We require a conscientious, scientifically methodical approach to work with high standards for the quality of your own work.
- Communication: You enjoy working in an intercultural environment, so your language skills in German and English are at a good level (B2 level) to enable you to communicate independently in both languages with colleagues as well as client companies.
A plus, not a requirement:
- Testing and verification skills: You are familiar with testing and verifying IP cores and know what matters most in this context.
- Experience with modern technologies: Knowledge of HLS, SystemC, and virtual prototyping rounds out your profile and enriches our team.
