Land Acquisition Manager
Location: Rhineland-Palatinate or Hesse
The Opportunity:
Our client is an international Independent Power Producer (IPP) and renewable energy business with a highly successful global track record and multi-gigawatt development pipeline. They are rapidly scaling up their German operations, focusing on the greenfield development of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). To drive this next phase of growth, they are looking for a dynamic Senior Land Acquisition Manager to lead their land-securing activities across Germany.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and secure suitable land areas for utility-scale Solar PV and standalone or co-located Battery Storage (BESS) projects across Germany.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of greenfield project locations by utilizing tools, public registries, and regional networks.
- Lead commercial and legal negotiations with landowners, agricultural associations, public authorities, and local stakeholders to secure long-term lease or purchase agreements (Nutzungsverträge).
- Conduct initial site feasibility assessments, including analyzing regional zoning plans (Flächennutzungspläne) and structural constraints.
- Act as the initial local representative of the business, presenting projects clearly to municipal stakeholders and mayors to secure local community buy-in.
- Coordinate closely with internal Project Developers, Technical Engineers, and GIS specialists to smoothly transition secured sites to the permitting phase.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of proven experience in land acquisition (Flächensicherung) specifically for utility-scale Solar PV or BESS projects in the German market.
- Deep understanding of the German real estate/land landscape, lease agreement structures, and local property law.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Native or fluent German (written and spoken) is mandatory & fluent English.
- High willingness to travel across target regions in Germany.
