The TUM Venture Labs are a joint initiative of UnternehmerTUM and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). At the TUM Venture Lab Healthcare, we support science- and clinic-driven start-up initiatives in the fields of Digital Health, MedTech, and Biotech—from initial idea to investment readiness. We combine entrepreneurial excellence with medical research, clinical application, and a strong network of academia, hospitals, industry, and investors.
As part of a collaborative project for Universitätsmedizin Bayern (UMB) limited to three years, we are working together with Bavarian university hospitals to build a cross-site program for technology transfer and venture creation in healthcare. The goal is to systematically identify clinically driven innovations, further develop them, and accelerate their transition into pilot projects, spin-offs, and sustainable collaborations.
To support the coordination team, we are looking for a motivated student assistant (studentische Hilfskraft), employed by the Technical University of Munich.
Research & Analysis: You support our cross-site analysis – including best-practice benchmarking of national and international programmes and research into the transfer and innovation structures of the university hospitals – and prepare results as concise profiles, tables, and overviews.
Events & Formats: You help plan, organise, and run the startup support formats (workshops, expert sessions, yearly conference). This includes scheduling, coordinating with speakers, ecosystem partners, and the six sites, as well as preparing and following up on committee meetings (e.g. minutes, scheduling).
- You are enrolled in Medicine, Management & Technology, Business Informatics, Business Administration, Public Health / Health Sciences, or a comparable field.
-
You are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship in healthcare; a connection to Digital Health, MedTech, or Biotech is an advantage.
-
You work in a structured, independent, and reliable way, and take responsibility for the thorough completion of your tasks.
-
You enjoy working in a team and coordinating with a range of stakeholders (clinicians, founders, partner organisations).
-
Experience with tools such as MS Office is required.
-
You communicate confidently in German and English (written and spoken).
-
You are available for approximately 10–20 hours per week.
- Employment as a student assistant at the Technical University of Munich, remunerated in accordance with the applicable rates for student assistants.
-
Insights into clinical innovation and venture building across six university hospitals – from idea to piloting.
-
A network of founders, clinicians, investors, and ecosystem partners – a potential springboard for your career.
-
Flat hierarchies, a high degree of autonomy, and close collaboration with a dynamic team.
-
Flexible, remote-friendly work with a central office location in Munich.
