What to Expect
Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical raw material supplier development and qualification activities as well as providing technical leadership in recycling and value recovery optimization. This position involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making.

This role specifically narrows in on the technical supplier development of electrical steel (silicon-steel) and related raw material products used to create parts across automotive (traction motors) and energy products.
What You'll Do-
Lead Supplier Industrialization activities from R&D phase to mass production including product development, qualification, quality control and initiate New Product Introduction.
- Scout Innovation for Quality and Cost optimization from the supply base and support Design for Manufacturing feedback into Engineering teams.
- Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Accountable for supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet material performance, delivery, and reliability expectations.
- Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes.
- Validate supplier corrective actions involving design and/or process changes to ensure they are robust, sustainable, and implemented for similar potential concerns across manufacturing lines and/or suppliers.
- Support supply chain scope at a global level, driving steps forward and continuous improvement on the technical and cost reduction level.
What You'll Bring-
Degree Materials or Mechanical Engineering, or evidence of experience and exceptional ability
- Knowledge of most used automotive materials used in electrical motor manufacturing and their use in automotive industry processes: raw material processes (rolling, annealing, coating and slitting) & downstream usages (blanking, stacking, annealing, sintering or glueing).
- Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and direct suppliers at management level, build strong cross-functional teams, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in Supplier Industrialization, Customer Quality, and Product or Application Development at Raw Material producer or qualified automotive supplier
- Knowledge of PPAP/APQP processes and automotive technical knowledge. Experience of statistical analysis, quality assessment and extended problem-solving impact capabilities.
- Ability to investigate failure modes and impact of material properties as well as processing parameters on the final product.
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Domestic and international travel (expected 50% of the time), sometimes on short notice
