We are also responsible for operating secure detention centres on behalf of government immigration departments. Our facilities and services ensure the safe and caring detention of people who require repatriation to their home country and whose asylum applications have been rejected.

Key Purpose

Contribute to the leadership of their sector team and provide direction to their specific operational team in line with the divisional vision, goals and strategies. Work with the Sector MD for Serco Europe to create and implement a strategy for the specific market within their operational area of responsibility to ensure high growth and margin improvement where interoperability is crucial to future success. Deliver on our commitments to provide high quality services that create sustainable value for our customers, employees, and shareholders.

The role reports directly to their Sector Managing Director.

Key Accountabilities

Winning Good Business:

To contribute as a member of the sector leadership team and support with the implementation of agreed strategies and plans for their sector in Europe.
To put in place robust plans for successful delivery of the existing contracts in country, aligned to the wider strategies for Europe, as well as driving organic growth and new business in their sector.
To engage in the development of a network of senior relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders, working closely with the country BD team.
To delight the customer(s) with high quality service in line with our contractual requirements.

Key Accountabilities (Continued)

Executing Brilliantly:

Work with other country sector leads in their sector in Europe to identify and deliver cross-selling opportunities that benefit Serco as a whole and that enhance the Space capabilities by sharing best practice.
Implement and adhere to Serco’s agreed common processes and systems to maximise value for Serco and the customer.
To ensure the contracts’ customers receive ethical delivery, effective service, and great value and against all KPIs and SLAs.
Ensure the business delivers a level of service and value that enhances the Serco brand and fosters the development of long-term partnering relationships.

Profitable & Sustainable:

To ensure effective financial management is in place to achieve revenue, profit and cash targets and to meet division/Serco and legal requirements.
Full P&L responsibility for Immigration Germany.
To undertake initiatives to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their operation.

Knowledge

Well-developed knowledge across all business functions (e.g. finance, business development, HR and communications).
Excellent knowledge of German government and quasi-government sales processes.
Deep knowledge of the various sales mechanisms available to Government to take an opportunity to market (ITT, Competitive Dialogue, Negotiated Procedure etc).
Excellent knowledge of how to use company governance processes to translate potential sales opportunities into successfully run and profitable operations.
Deep knowledge of the German, European and international immigration market.

Skills

Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills, at very senior levels within government at national, federal and community level, OEMs and partner/subcontractors.
Highly impactful, articulate; with the ability to influence at all levels and with evidence of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers and key business stakeholders.
Knowledge/experience of key current and potential stakeholders in the market.
Strong analytical skills with ability to assimilate information quickly and communicate key messages simply and effectively to the business to aid decision making.
Sound strategic thinker with the ability to operate with a hands-on, pragmatic approach when required.
Strongly values led individual with excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
Self-aware yet highly resilient individual capable of challenging and being challenged.
Commercially astute and financially aware with proven strategy development and execution capability.

Experience

Experience of developing positive relationships with senior stakeholders
Experience of leading and motivating teams.
Experience of managing and improving the financial performance of the business

Experience of proactively engaging customers to improve relationships for the long-term and continue to drive value.
Extensive experience of successful leadership of marketing, sales, BD and human capital.
Evidence of developing, and executing, a clear strategy for account management which results in increased, profitable, market share.
Recent and relevant experience of working with key accounts and customers across public sector.
Strong track record of developing effective collaborations and partnerships and building consensus in cross-cultural and cross-functional environments.
Experience in the immigration sector background would be beneficial.

Additional / special features of the role

Travel across Germany/Europe is required to deliver the role.
Ability to develop positive relationships with other regions to call on Serco’s global expertise; at times this may require additional travel, globally.
Turnover approx. 300 Mio EUR, approx. 2600 employees and 140 contracts
