As the Head of German Media, you will hold final strategic and operational accountability for driving the long-term media strategy, budget allocation, and implementation for a diverse portfolio of automotive and multi-industry brands in Germany. This role focuses on advancing digital maturity, elevating campaign effectiveness, and establishing rigorous media governance. You will act as a key partner to senior client leadership to orchestrate optimal media solutions for complex brand needs, while leading local media planning and buying teams, defining investment principles, and managing cross-functional synergy. Ultimately, your leadership will directly determine multi-client portfolio growth, team retention, agency performance, and the organization's macro-level media capabilities.
Primary Job Duties:
Strategic Leadership & Business Ownership
- Full-Funnel Strategic Orchestration: Lead and architect holistic, integrated media strategies across the German market, seamlessly uniting traditional ATL (TV, OOH, Print) with advanced digital, performance-based, and data-driven media channels for all assigned client brands.
- Multi-Client Budget Allocation & ROI: Define local media investment principles and hold final accountability for high-stakes budget allocation across platforms to maximize cross-channel ROI and meet diverse client business objectives.
- Media Innovation & Digital Maturity: Drive tactical and strategic innovation across all media platforms (Display, Video, Search, Mobile, Programmatic, Social); foster the advanced, innovative use of emerging tech and AdTech infrastructure.
- Data-Driven Performance Governance: Synthesize complex data from multiple digital and traditional platforms into high-level, consumable insights to steer macro-level team planning, execution, and continuous optimization.
- Rigorous Metric Tracking: Establish and maintain robust tracking frameworks for key business metrics and media delivery, leveraging advanced analysis to detect market shifts and drive structural performance uplift.
Client & Market Leadership
- Develop and maintain robust, high-level relationships with senior leadership across multiple client disciplines, spanning Media, Brand Marketing, and Corporate Strategy
- Present complex media insights and high-level strategic topics to a non-technical or C-level audience concisely and persuasively through narrative-driven, data-visualized presentations.
- Nurture and govern relationships with top-tier Media Owners and external media agencies (e.g., Havas) to ensure seamless and highly cost-effective media buying and execution.
- Work cross-functionally with internal and external partners—including Creative, Social, Data, Strategy, and Accounts—to ensure data-driven media decisions push the organization forward.
- Integrate effectively within client teams, maintaining a strong collaborative spirit and consensus-building mindset with all stakeholders and vendors.
Organizational Leadership & Workforce Planning
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of local media planners and strategists, fostering a culture of continuous learning, digital upskilling, and operational excellence.
- Manage team structures, balance workloads across multiple client accounts, and establish clear workflows to ensure flawless, on-time media execution.
- Set clear performance benchmarks, conduct structured annual assessments, and proactively support the career path development of team members.
Your Profile:
Professional Experience
- Minimum 12 years of extensive experience in media planning, buying, and strategic management, ideally gained within a leading media agency (Agency-side) or a major global advertiser (Client-side).
- Demonstrated leadership in managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing media teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing both traditional ATL channels and advanced Digital/Performance ecosystems.
- Deep experience in steering high-stakes automotive media budgets or complex multi-million-euro accounts.
Technical Skills
- Elite-level proficiency in media budget management, multi-channel product selection, and full-funnel KPI analysis (including ATL metrics like GRP/Reach and digital metrics like Impressions, Clicks, Leads, and Conversions).
- Deep understanding of advanced digital AdTech infrastructure and data management platforms, including GA4, Google BigQuery, and major DSPs
- Leadership & Behavioral Competencies
- Prove your ability to build immediate trust, foster strong partnerships, and maintain diplomatic relations with senior stakeholders across various client organizations.
