Join our team at Weichai Power European Science and Technology Innovation Center as a Master thesis student focusing on the development of a semi-automated risk assessment approach for hydraulic powertrain systems. Located in the vibrant city of Aachen, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the machine-building and operating technology industry. The following tasks await you and can be adjusted in scope depending on your interests:Develop a semi-automated risk assessment workflow for hydraulic powertrain systems, with a focus on DFMEA support

Build and structure hydraulic powertrain system schematics using defined tools

Define and manage component metadata for hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, sensors, and controllers

Develop scripts or tools to extract component information and system connections from digitalized schematic files

Support the identification and evaluation of potential failure modes based on engineering knowledge, predefined rules, and available test experience

Analyze how system design changes can be efficiently reflected in updated risk assessments
Required Profile
We are looking for a motivated student eager to learn and contribute to our dynamic team. The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

Currently enrolled in a relevant engineering or technical degree program

Experience and interest in fluid power, hydraulic systems and hydraulic components

Interest in risk assessment methods such as FMEA

Strong programming skills in Python or Matlab

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English

Proficiency in German is a plus but not required
