Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg
Job Summary
Job Summary : The Software Packaging & Application Coordinator (GAC) Engineer – L2 executes the end-to-end software packaging service for the client\'s Base and On Demand software (Modern/Intune client) and Core, Extended & Optional Load (Classic/SCCM client) — roughly 1,500 packages created per year across new packages, updates, BIOS updates, patches, and driver updates. The role operates within the Global Application Coordinator (GAC) service — the coordination point for packaging orders, software rollout, and catalogue management — and provides direct Application Owner (AO) Support, guiding Application Owners through the ordering, testing, and release process. This is one of two hiring variants for the same role: an onsite, German-speaking placement in Stuttgart and an offshore placement in Noida — both perform identical scope.
Key Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities : Software Packaging Execution Create and update software packages for Base/On Demand (Modern client) and Core/Extended/Optional Load (Classic client), for physical and virtual clients (notebooks, desktops, VDI), per the client\'s Packaging Standards. Verify packaging orders for completeness and correctness (cost center, Application Owner, package sources, step-by-step installation instructions, license evidence) before starting work. Create new orders in SIT (or the client\'s active Software Library tool) and check compliance with special-approval procedures where required (e.g., ACL-relaxing). Testing & Quality Gate Run technical smoke tests on every completed package: install, launch, and full uninstall, plus update-from-prior-version testing where applicable. Run cross-update tests when a new package is intended to replace an existing one (product change). Submit packages to the Central Quality Gate (CQG) for certification against the client\'s Packaging Standards. Provision qualified test clients (standard: virtual/VDI; on request: physical, provided by the requesting site) for the Application Owner\'s User Acceptance Test (UAT), and re-submit for retest if UAT fails. AO Support Receive and process Application Owner requests; advise AOs on the required steps for software provisioning and the full dw-SRM end-to-end process and tooling. Coordinate provisioning of virtual test clients for AOs and support the dw-SRM integration test cycle (~2x/year). Advise AOs on announcing new software packages via the dw technical newsletter (weekly cadence, plus out-of-band/emergency newsletters where defined); quality-check planned announcements before send. Ticket Handling & Rollout Verification Handle packaging orders raised via the ticketing system (email/phone accepted only in defined exceptions), meeting the 1-business-day response SLA for standard requests and 1-hour for emergency requests (e.g., stopping a failing rollout). Before every distribution, verify that rollout batches (SCCM Collections / Intune assignment groups) match the current structure defined in the ticket, including checking for outdated or incorrect collections; escalate discrepancies to the GAC for correction approval. Close tickets and confirm package availability to the requester once distribution is complete. Tooling Work daily in SIT / SIT@Web (Definitive Software Library documentation), the ordering system (IT Shop or successor), DataBee (on-prem reporting), DynApCo, and CoSyMa.
