Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Manager to join our Germany operations within the automotive sector. This role will work closely with regional tax business partners to coordinate tax matters, ensure alignment with group tax strategies, and effectively support business needs. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with local regulations, providing authoritative and practical tax advice, and managing tax audits and interactions with tax authorities.
In addition, the role will play a critical part in supporting new business initiatives by assessing tax implications from both German local regulations and EU tax frameworks, delivering proactive tax guidance, and ensuring tax-efficient and compliant implementation.
Key Responsibilities
1.Review of all corporate tax matters for the German entity, including corporate income tax, trade tax, and VAT, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulation.
2.Oversee tax compliance processes, including the review of tax filings and submissions, to ensure alignment with German tax regulations, as well as internal standards.
3.Provide strategic tax advice and guidance on business operations, transactions, and new initiatives.
4.Support new business launches and projects by assessing tax implications, advising on optimal structures, and ensuring tax compliance from the outset.
5.Act as the primary interface with German tax authorities, leading and coordinating tax audits, inquiries, and disputes.
6.Review and optimize tax processes, identify risks, and implement effective tax control frameworks.
7.Collaborate with external advisors and auditors as needed.
8.Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.- Minimum of 10 years of relevant tax experience, preferably with a Big Four and/or within the automotive industry,exceptional candidates with slightly less experience may be considered.
- Strong knowledge of German tax laws and regulations.
- Proven experience handling tax audits and dealing with tax authorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to provide clear, practical tax advice to business teams.
- Certified Tax Advisor (Steuerberater) or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
- Experience in multinational corporations and cross-border tax matters.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is advantageous.
- Fluency in German and English is required.
