What to Expect
The Quality Engineer, Paint will be responsible for providing on time support to our internal or external customers on Quality Improvement opportunities for paint production & processes. The role will monitor our manufacturing processes, quality data systems, first pass yield, scrap and continuous improvement opportunities in order to implement the best practices in our operation on a daily basis. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset with passion for surface quality and paint shop processes.
What You'll Do-
Develop manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and product quality plans in collaboration with the paint production team to ensure that all painted products will meet expectations of our plant internal as well as target customers.
- Improve part quality, yield, process capability and cost of painted bodies
- Lead the development of FMEAs to identify critical risks in design and manufacturing, and drive action to mitigate risks with cross-functional teams.
- Enhance, validate, rollout critical quality controls across production lines, in coordination with design and manufacturing teams.
- Qualification of new production lines and processes by utilizing FMEAs, control plans, capability analysis, MSAs etc.
- Pilot systematic root cause and corrective/preventative action deployment to address critical product and production risks within paint shop.
- Solve complex quality issues by utilizing advanced statistical concepts.
- Ensure part conformance and compliance to standards and specifications by championing Control Plans, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Product Design Reviews, Inspection Standards, Testing and Rework Methods, Work Instructions, and Technical Specifications.
- Support the development of DFMEAs to determine potential risks in product design and support resolution of high-risk issues.
- Track quality performance metrics, prioritize top issues, and drive continuous improvement activities with cross-functional teams.
- Elevate incoming material quality through effective supplier management.
- Steer internal auditing processes for quality assurance and compliance
- Conduct product containment activities and arrange for disposition
What You'll Bring-
Minimum 3 years of experience in paint shop, quality engineering or other relevant industry.
- Must have strong knowledge of surface defects, sealer & paint shop related measurements (color, appearance, thickness etc.).
- Ability to multitask effectively within a team environment in managing priorities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily 5S directives.
- Dependable and reliable.
Highly organized and confident with an ability to manage projects within set deadlines.
