The position will be part of the research project “ Building climate resilience in agricultural landscapes through social-ecological diversification, co-design and transdisciplinary learning (AgRe-Lab) ”. AgRe-Lab will be funded by zukunft.niedersachsen , the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation. The transdisciplinary AgRe-Lab project is focusing on the adoption of climate and biodiversity measures, together with co-design processes, landscape governance, and transdisciplinary learning.
This doctoral project will investigate how climate, biodiversity measures, and semi-natural habitats interact to shape the resilience of pollinator communities in agricultural landscapes. The successful candidate will assess the relative importance of these factors across landscape gradients and reveal the landscape-scale processes underlying pollinator resilience under changing land-use conditions. The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and collaborate with stakeholders in the three AgRe-Lab Living Labs.
The
position should be filled
by October 1, 2026 (not later than November 2026) subject to the final funding approval. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13) with 70%. The contract will be
for three years .
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist to join our team. Applicants must hold a university degree (Master’s degree) in ecology, biology, agriculture, or related disciplines. Good knowledge of ecological statistics (using R) and good writing and strong communication skills are required. Fluency in written and spoken English is expected, while proficiency in German is an advantage. Entomological knowledge on pollinators, experience in scientific writing and publishing, and experience with spatial analyses in R or with GIS are desirable. A
class B driving license is required , a strong willingness to travel for fieldwork and spend time at the Living Labs is essential.
Your tasks
- Fieldwork: sampling of plant-pollinator interactions in different habitats across agricultural landscapes in the districts of Northeim, Hildesheim and Gifhorn (Living Labs)
- Data analysis
- Publication of research results in scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences
- Participation in outreach and dissemination activities and contribution to general project tasks
