Our salary range is based on the current salary scales defined in our works agreement. The placement on the scale is evaluated according to the years of relevant experience after full qualification.

Teaches and team-teaches the German language in an IB PYP School (EC-G5); creates a stimulating learning environment based on inquiry, discovery and exploration

Contributes to a school programme which is based on transdisciplinary teaching, collaborating and team-teaching with homeroom teachers and other German teachers to ensure student needs are met

Supports students in an overarching way across the curriculum, and their development in a holistic manner

Designs and delivers lessons which are engaging and inspiring

Plans assessments - formal and informal - which benefit student progress and support students to know where they are in their learning

Uses a range of approaches in the classroom to accommodate varied learning styles and plans engaging, well-structured and appropriately differentiated learning experiences

Promotes the value of German learning for all stakeholders in an international environment; promotes international-mindedness throughout the curriculum

Attends faculty meetings, in-service meetings, grade level meetings, and department

meetings as required under the BIS Staff Working Agreements and collaborates as part of the instructional team

Provides ongoing and timely feedback (academic progress, social/personal, etc.) to individual students, teachers and parents

Provides a point of contact for teachers to discuss students and their (German) language skills

Contributes to the values, field trips, extracurricular activities and development of the school

Education: An appropriate teaching qualification and a college and university degree from an accredited higher education institution

Certification: Up-to-date national or state credential required for the assigned teaching position

Experience: Ideally, two years of experience teaching the German language in a diverse school setting

Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning) or a willingness to learn

A proven willingness to work collaboratively and positively with colleagues to benefit student outcomes; basic familiarity with team teaching or a willingness to learn

A native speaker of German (or native-level proficiency - spoken and written - in German)
