Future. Discover. Together.
At the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, the Wireless Communications and Networks department pioneers technologies for next-generation wireless communication systems. Our Millimeter Wave (mm-Wave) Group specializes in the design, simulation, and implementation of mobile communication and measurement systems operating up to 500 GHz.
Over the past decade, we have developed deep expertise in channel measurements, antenna design, and advanced transceiver technologies. Our work includes custom analog and digital hardware design and experimental system implementations that push the boundaries of what is possible in high-frequency wireless communications. A key focus of our current research is 6G Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), where the same waveform and hardware platform simultaneously serve communication and sensing purposes.
Become a part of our team and join us on our journey of research and innovation!
Be part of change
- Operate and control state-of-the-art RF lab instruments (e.g., Rohde & Schwarz signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers) for system characterization and performance evaluation
- Design, build, and validate RF measurement setups and assess their performance using digital signal processing techniques
- Develop MATLAB and/or Python scripts to automate lab instruments and measurement workflows (e.g., VISA/SCPI-based instrument control)
- Plan and participate in channel sounding campaigns in real-world propagation environments to characterize wireless channels
- Post-process and analyze measurement data using advanced digital signal processing methods (e.g., spectral analysis, channel estimation, multipath extraction, object detection and localization)
- Support research by evaluating the sensing and communication performance of joint waveforms and measurement setups
- Support the mm-Wave Group in project-based research, development, and experimental tasks
