DevOps / Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) – AWS:

The PACE Flight Operations Team is looking for a DevOps / Cloud Engineer (m/f/d) to join us in Berlin, Germany. This is a full-time position within a dynamic and innovative environment focused on building solutions for fuel-efficient aviation.
Your Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve our AWS governance model, including account structure, landing zone concepts, identity integration, IAM, role-based access control, access policies, security boundaries, and environment separation.
- Define, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and maintainable AWS infrastructure architectures using Infrastructure as Code, especially AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.
- Own and improve centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability across platform components.
- Support and strengthen cloud security practices, including least-privilege access, secure networking, auditability, and compliance-oriented controls.
- Identify and implement AWS cost optimization measures without compromising reliability, security, or maintainability.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure delivery.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve build, deployment, release, and rollback processes.
- Support the operation of serverless and cloud-native workloads, especially AWS Lambda-based services.
- Define reusable standards, patterns, and templates for cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and platform operations.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, networking, permissions, performance, and reliability issues.
- Contribute to technical decisions around platform reliability, scalability, maintainability, and cloud architecture.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and platform guidelines.
What you’ll own (first 12–24 months)
- Multi-region AWS architecture
Help design and implement a multi-region architecture for the FPO platform on AWS, improving availability, resilience, and scalability across regions.
- Migration from TFS to Azure DevOps
Support the migration of our source code repositories from Team Foundation Server to Azure DevOps Repos, ensuring a smooth transition for engineering teams.
Migrate and optimize our CI/CD setup from TeamCity to Azure DevOps Pipelines, improving build reliability, deployment automation, traceability, and developer experience.
- AWS account ownership and component migration
Help us take ownership of a recently acquired software component that is now part of our platform and currently runs on AWS
This includes migrating the component into our AWS account structure, aligning it with our governance, security, monitoring, and deployment standards
- Cloud governance foundation
Strengthen our AWS governance model across account management, IAM, RBAC, centralized logging, cost control, security standards, and operational visibility
Your Profile
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, SRE, Platform Engineer, or in a similar role
- 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
- Strong understanding of AWS infrastructure, governance, IAM, networking, logging, and security concepts
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with TeamCity, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD platforms
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally using AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, or similar tools
- Solid understanding of cloud security, monitoring, and operational reliability
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive platform topics from concept to implementation
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, IT, and business stakeholders
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with .Net / C# application stacks.
- Serverless architectures with AWS Lambda, especially using C#/.Net
- Designing or operating multi-region AWS architectures
- DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudFront, SNS, and S3 experience
- Experience in regulated, security-conscious, or enterprise IT environments
