We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d) - Employment & Labour Relations to join our team in Germany (preferably Munich or Stuttgart).In this role, you will act as a key advisor on all employment law and labour relations matters, working closely with your team colleagues, HR, leadership, and international headquarters. You will play a critical role in navigating complex stakeholder environments, leading negotiations with Workers Councils, ensuring compliance with German labour law in an international corporate setting.
This role requires strong legal expertise, business acumen, and the ability to independently drive topics while collaborating with global stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Workers' Council negotiations, including preparation, strategy development, execution, and stakeholder alignment to ensure compliant and sustainable outcomes
- Act as the main point of contact for employment law, labour law, co-determination, health & safety, and HR compliance matters in Germany, providing pragmatic legal guidance to HR teams and senior leadership
- Drive and oversee employment-related initiatives and projects, including restructurings, terminations, organizational changes, and strategic labour-related processes in close collaboration with international headquarters
- Navigate complex and dynamic stakeholder environments with differing interests, ensuring balanced decision-making and alignment between local operations and global policies, particularly in an international matrix organization
- Manage relationships with external law firms and advisors, serving as a strong internal counterpart and ensuring high-quality legal supportTake ownership of topics independently while maintaining close collaboration and regular alignment with key internal stakeholders across HR, Legal, and business functions
Qualification
- Law degree preferred, ideally in Employment Law, Labor Law, Business Law, Human Resources Management, or a related field
- Extensive hands-on experience in German employment and labour law, including a proven track record in leading Workers Council negotiations
- Strong understanding of HR compliance, labour relations frameworks, and co-determination topics; exposure to health and safety matters is considered an advantage
- Proven experience working successfully within international matrix organizations, particularly in environments with headquarters located outside Germany
- Demonstrated ability to manage and influence stakeholders at executive level, as well as to coordinate and manage relationships with external legal counsel
- Fluent in both German and English, with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
