Working within the Security Systems Engineering (SSE) team, the Security Systems Design Engineer will work with cross-functional construction, IT, and operations business teams to design enterprise integrated security systems. This multi-functional role will work across region on new build and existing facility technical designs for our manufacturing, R&D, corporate office, and retail locations, that assure the protection of Tesla's assets, critical infrastructure, and employees worldwide.
What You'll Do
As a Security Systems Design Engineer on our team, your role will be diverse and impactful. From managing construction led new build and remodel design projects to systems R&D, your contributions will directly influence the safety and security of Tesla employees, customers, and facilities. You will engage in effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, navigate complex dependencies, and operate with a sense of urgency.
- Create the Security Systems Design Drawings using Revit and AutoCAD according to VDI 6026 LPH 5 standard.
- Manage and implement technical security systems design standards across region.
- Ensure technical designs are completed and submitted in line with the wider construction design teams and meeting design completion milestones.
- Manage day two design change requests (DCR’s) and updating/implementing security design updates as required.
- Coordinate and manage pre-requisites, schedules, and bill of materials, as necessary.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders, external manufacturers, and systems integrators.
- Perform site security risk assessments to support specific designs (As required).
- Maintain and ensure high-quality project documentation and communication.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce cost with physical security technology.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical or electronic engineering or evidence of exceptional ability
5+ years of hands-on experience with German/European enterprise technical security systems design in a corporate, manufacturing, or retail facility environment
Expert knowledge of working within Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Autodesk products such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Build and Bluebeam. Knowledge in Revit dynamo scripting would also be advantageous
Expert knowledge of low voltage electrical systems, video management systems, access control systems, and other technical security systems and devices
Experience with industry standard installation tools and safety practices.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and navigate through an ambiguous environment; enjoys challenges
Highly organized, with solid time management skills and acute attention to detail
Experience and/or vendor certifications from Gallagher, Genetec, Axis, Hanwha and Commend are advantageous
Domestic or International travel required as needed
