The role
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and energy storage systems. Tesla's Production Engineering team is at the forefront of designing cutting-edge electrode production processes and scaling them into mass production. This team operates and develops highly complex, high-precision processes for high volume and high quality.
This role focuses on characterization and metrology support for battery electrode manufacturing. This fast-paced team is the perfect environment if you are interested in building diverse skills and making a tangible impact on the future of electric vehicles. What You'll Do
- Support engineering with offline and inline metrology-related tasks for electrode manufacturing

Learn to operate offline metrology equipment and conduct characterization of samples from various manufacturing processes

Install, maintain, test, and validate offline and inline metrology tools

Operate various offline metrology equipment in the development stage; conduct measurements, experimental runs, and document and report observations

Immediately report emergencies, incidents, and near misses to the engineering team

Support inline tool calibrations, monitor tool health dashboards, report and resolve tool downtime and calibration issues, develop Out of Control Action Plan (OCAP) procedures, and train production and maintenance technicians

Independently document operating procedures and data in a standard format and cross-train to build competency in multiple work areas

Conduct analytical tests, measure and record data using defined tools and software

Participate in the continuous improvement of safety, quality, output, and tool uptime
What You'll Bring
- Experience in Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), Incoming Quality Control (IQC), metrology and characterization for battery, semiconductor, optics, or small-scale manufacturing
- Experience with troubleshooting manufacturing and metrology equipment
- Ability to document processes and procedures for manufacturing, maintenance, and quality
- Ability to operate various manufacturing or assembly equipment
- Ability to analyze process data and summarize results
- Experience with specific metrology tools is a plus
- Eagerness to learn new techniques at the development stage
- Hands-on mindset
- Fluent in English; German is a plus
