The Opportunity
We are looking for a Physical AI & Robotic Systems Integration (Intern/Working Student) who thrives at the intersection of production software engineering, advanced AI, and physical hardware. If you find it incredibly satisfying to write clean, maintainable Python code that translates directly into precise, real-world robot movement, this role is for you. You will play a vital part in our data collection pipelines and model inference strategy, tackling the unique challenges of making software resilient against physical hardware unpredictability. You won't be watching from the sidelines or working purely in simulation—your code will directly drive physical robots in production.
Responsibilities
-
Collaborate in Production Codebases: Contribute to a shared repository using modern Git workflows, creating structured Merge Requests, participating in peer code reviews, and upholding software engineering standards.
-
Integrate & Debug Physical Manipulation Hardware: Design, build, and maintain stable ROS2 interfaces for physical hardware—specifically robot arms, dexterous hands, grippers, and sensors—for pick-and-place and complex manipulation tasks.
-
Engineer for Real-World Resilience: Implement robust error-handling, edge-case recovery, and smart auto-restart mechanisms to handle hardware lag, connection drops, and sensor noise.
-
Deploy AI to the Edge: Package and optimize ROS2 nodes that run advanced neural networks in inference mode, turning model outputs into physical hardware commands.
-
Guarantee Stack Stability: Write rigorous integration tests (pytest) and data validation scripts to keep our pipeline rock-solid during both large-scale data collection and live deployments.
Requirements
Must-Have
-
Education: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
-
Physical Hardware Experience (Non-negotiable): Direct, hands-on experience setting up, controlling, and debugging physical robotic manipulation hardware (robot arms, pick-and-place setups, or dexterous multi-fingered hands).
-
Codebase Collaboration & Python Engineering: Strong Python proficiency (rclpy, numpy, pytest) with proven experience collaborating in shared codebases via Git (managing Merge Requests/Pull Requests and participating in code reviews).
-
ROS2 & Infrastructure: Experience with ROS2 core architectures, Docker containerization, and modern Python virtual environment management (uv).
-
Robotics Fundamentals: Solid grasp of kinematics, rotation matrices, transformation trees (TF2), and position/impedance control concepts.
Nice-to-Have
-
Proficiency in C++.
-
Direct experience deploying RL or Vision-Language-Action (VLA) policies on physical robotic arms or hands.
-
Previous software engineering experience at a fast-paced startup or industrial robotics company.
Benefits
-
Work with a world-class team in a flat hierarchy, with direct collaboration alongside the founders and engineering team
-
Opportunity to make a real impact by working on cutting-edge robotics and AI systems
-
Fast growth potential in a rapidly evolving company and industry
-
International office environment with English as the official working language
