Job Description
Our Director of Engineering will provide technical direction, leadership, and subject-matter expertise across the organization. Leads Specialists supporting Project, Commercial, Procurement, and EPC teams, while driving quality, efficiency, and practical AI-enabled improvements. They key purpose of the job will be providing functional leadership for the discipline, ensuring qualified personnel, compliant standards, and high-value specialist support for project acquisition, preparation, execution, and completion. Drive continuous improvement through efficient processes and practical AI use.
Key Challenges

Maintain and develop subject-matter expertise to ensure delivery in line with technical best practice

Ensure adequate staffing through hiring, onboarding, training, development, and coordination of staff rotation

Set technical and process standards, including appropriate AI use, and ensure QA/QC through oversight and audits

Manage a team of Specialists delivering operational support to Project, Commercial, Procurement, and EPC teams

Provide technical guidance and input to performance reviews for colleagues in the subject area

Support management with strategic guidance, risk assessments, and monitoring of key projects

Drive continuous improvement in standards, processes, documentation, and knowledge sharing

Provides direct line management for Specialists and functional leadership across the discipline, including coaching and support for efficient, AI-enabled ways of working

Contributes to strategy and process development, promotes lessons learned, and supports productivity and continuity across the organization

Oversees delivery of specialist services in line with project and internal requirements for time, cost, and quality

Acts as senior technical representative for the discipline, including external interfaces and escalation support where required

Reviews and signs off on relevant contractual annexes and purchase orders for relevant specialized services

Maintains technical excellence throughout the organization, improving and further developing internal standards, processes and procedures and key inputs for risk assessments for projects
Qualifications

Preferred: Bachelor's, Master's, or Technical degree or Qualification in the role's specific subject-matter areas

8-10 years industry experience leading in-depth topics in the related subject-matter discipline

Leadership skills managing teams of 10 or more people

Deep technical expertise and ability to lead teams of expert Specialists

Financial and commercial understanding

Ability to act as senior representative in escalated situations

Experience managing subcontractor and service provider interfaces

Ability to review contractual requirements and quality of work

Familiarity with renewable energy project planning constraints

Strong communication and relevant software skills

Ability to improve processes using digital and AI tools

Strong understanding of risk management and mitigation

Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory; additional languages are desired
