Mechanical Engineer, Weller - DE - Besigheim

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Mechanical Engineer for R&D in the field of hand soldering and fume extraction systems.
Summary
In this position your core responsibility will be to develop and improve mechanical systems in support of our product development with a focus on plastic part design and integration within a full mechanical assembly. You will be involved in all design-related aspects of the projects from concept to beyond production.
This position does require the ability to interface with engineering, sourcing, sales, quality, production, and marketing personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, development, and implementation of various mechanical systems with a focus on the design of plastic components for soldering products in the repair segment (soldering stations, soldering irons, tips, filtration devices, etc.)
- Definition and execution of tests, experiments, and validations (component, subassembly, and system testing)
- Maintenance of material master data, drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering changes in SAP
- Support of release and approval processes, change management (ECR/ECN), inspection/test plans, and technical documentation
- Development and implementation of manufacturing test plans for mechanical subassemblies
- Collaboration with the product management team to translate product design features into technical requirements and specifications
- Alignment of technical requirements and specifications with external development partners and suppliers
Critical Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics (ideally with a focus on plastics engineering)
- Experience in the development and design of injection molded plastic parts and mechanical assemblies
- Basic understanding of machining principles and capabilities
- Experience with 3D CAD (Creo 6.0 or higher)
- Solid SAP experience, particularly in material master data, bills of materials (BOMs), technical texts, and change management
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Fluent in German and English
