As Mace Consult’s Germany team continues to expand, we are searching for an experienced Construction Manager to join our growing team in Berlin. You will support us in delivering project objectives for our clients within time, cost and quality requirements, while coordinating with contractors and project stakeholders on-site. Initially, this role will support a hospitality fit-out project in Berlin, but future deployments could include a variety of our business sectors, as well as project locations across the region.
You’ll be responsible for:

Working with the project team to manage the construction phase of our projects, including pre-construction preparations, as well as commissioning and handover to the client.

Managing and coordinating construction activities on site performed by a general contractor or individual package contractors.

Managing and recording site meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis, including meetings with clients and external stakeholders.

Tracking construction progress on site, reviewing construction programmes and presenting construction activities in regular reports for the wider project team and the client.

Identifying, communicating and mitigating risks and issues that arise during the project.

Supporting the commercial team in assessing validity of contractors’ payment applications.

Managing quality on site, including identifying defects and coordinating their resolution.

Monitoring and actively engaging in relevant health, safety and wellbeing aspects of projects.

Managing and tracking project changes and ensuring they are processed and formalised within the agreed timeframes.

Compiling and managing handover processes and documentation of works.
You’ll need to have:

Construction and/or project management experience; knowledge of construction methods (particularly fit-out) and understanding of scheduling, reporting and project finance.

Understanding of relevant contractual frameworks (VOB or equivalent).

Problem solving and analytical skills to address project issues.

Knowledge of health, safety and wellbeing standards and best practices and appreciation of their importance in the context of construction projects.

Strong communication skills for coordination with contractors on site and communicating progress and issues to the client and other stakeholders verbally, by email and as reports.

Experience working with common project-related software, including MS Project and the MS Office suite, as well as systems for tracking changes and defects (e.g. PlanRadar, BIM360).

Proficient in English and German.

Degree/tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (project management and/or construction-related field), or non-related degree or equivalent professional experience/apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
