Xitra Therapeutics GmbH is a biotechnology company, located in Berlin-Buch, dedicated to the discovery and development of innovative small molecules targeting the Mas and MrgD receptors within the Alternative Renin-Angiotensin System. These molecules mimic the naturally occurring peptide angiotensin-(1-7) but offer enhanced drug properties, including increased potency and oral bioavailability. As a subsidiary of the American biotech company, Constant Therapeutics LLC, Xitra Therapeutics leverages cutting-edge research to develop therapies aimed at treating rare diseases, such as muscular dystrophies. Our mission is to advance scientific knowledge and translate it into effective treatments that improve patient outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform and support in vivo experiments, primarily on muscle function in preclinical murine models of muscular dystrophies, in accordance with approved study protocols and applicable animal welfare regulations.
- Perform mammalian cell culture and related cell-based assays.
- Carry out molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, and related downstream applications.
- Perform standard laboratory assays, including ELISAs and other biochemical or immunological techniques.
- Contribute to the development, optimization, and implementation of experimental protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, and materials, ensuring a well-organized and efficient laboratory environment.
Your Profile
- Completed vocational training as a Biological/Technical Assistant (BTA / CTA / MTA) or a degree (BSc/MSc) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience working with laboratory animals, particularly mice and/or rats, as an essential prerequisite for the job, whereby an understanding of the characterization of muscle function and structure would be a plus.
- Practical experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Good working knowledge of molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis.
- A structured, reliable, and hands-on approach to laboratory work, with the ability to work independently and troubleshoot experimental challenges.
- A proactive mindset and the ability to contribute to the development and optimization of new experimental protocols.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality experimental work.
- A strong team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of English (our working language). German proficiency is an advantage, particularly for administrative and compliance-related tasks.
