What to Expect
The primary objective of this role is to lead complex, cross-shop quality problem solving across all 8 vehicle production shops at Gigafactory Berlin. Reporting directly to the Senior Quality Manager, you will have access to the full resources of the Quality department to drive resolution of high priority issues. The successful candidate must be a proven problem solver with strong project management skills, a quality and customer-focused mindset, and the personal drive for relentless, continual improvement.
What You'll Do
- Lead cross-shop problem-solving projects that span multiple production areas, connecting upstream root causes to downstream quality escapes.
-
Apply structured investigation methods (8D, DMAIC, A3) to progress priority issues from containment through to verified corrective action.
-
Act as the escalation contact for complex problems while maintaining overall problem solving KPIs.
-
Coordinate with Manufacturing, Design, Supplier Quality, and Process Engineering to align on action plans and remove barriers to resolution.
-
Provide transparent reporting on open issues, closure rates, and recurring themes to senior leadership.
-
Coach Quality Engineers across shops on advanced problem-solving and statistical analysis techniques.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related). Master's degree or Six Sigma Black Belt is a plus
-
5+ years in quality engineering or quality management within high-volume manufacturing — automotive, aerospace, or electronics preferred
-
Demonstrated track record leading complex, cross-functional problem-solving initiatives from root cause through to sustained corrective action
-
Deep working knowledge of 8D, FMEA (Design & Process), SPC, DOE, capability analysis, MSA, and control planning
-
Strong project management skills — able to run multiple concurrent investigations across different production areas while balancing competing KPIs and stakeholder priorities
-
Proven ability to manage a portfolio of quality issues, holding multiple stakeholders accountable to timelines and driving closure
-
Data fluent — comfortable extracting insights from large datasets using Splunk, SQL, Python, Minitab, JMP, or similar
-
Excellent English communication; German is an advantage. Able to present complex findings clearly to shop-floor teams and senior leadership
-
Collaborative leadership style with credibility to influence without direct authority across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain
-
Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and rapid decision-making is expected
-
Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement
