What to Expect
Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical raw materials, component production and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will be responsible for qualifying and scaling battery cell materials (focuses on separator, foil, conductive carbon, etc) manufacturing processes and quality system at Tesla supplier locations. In this role, you will work closely with many organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new battery designs from initial concept through into full production.
The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. What You'll Do
- Apply solid understanding of manufacturing quality control to develop specific CTQs, MSA, traceability, and maintainance procedures.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure proper definition of quality expectations, DFM, and CoA spec requirements.

Set up in process QC, OQC, and IQC material quality controls; Qualify measurement method and develop novel metrology; Conduct supplier OQC and Tesla IQC correlation analysis.
- Establish procedures for and conduct audits covering initial supplier assessment, supplier quality, and sustaining audits; Maintain MIL and ensure timely closure with suppliers.

Conduct yield bridge analysis to guide quality and yield improvement;
- Conduct DOEs together with material SIE engineers, complete data analysis and Cp/Cpk analysis to identify production capability gaps and guide process improvement.

Support material and production-related FA and execute corrective action plans with suppliers.
- Manage project activities at supplier sites and ensure all required milestones meet Tesla product qualification timelines.
What You'll Bring
- BS/MS in Chemical, Material Science & engineering. 5+ years of industrial experience in high-volume battery material manufacturing process and quality control

Experience characterizing film materials properties, via stress-strain, FTIR, ICP, SEM, EDS, contact angle

Experience developing IPQC/OQC/IQC quality controls, metrology qualification, quality sampling methodologies for cell materials

Well-versed in statistical data analysis & process capability analysis, including GRR, Cpk, yield; proficient in data analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab

Experience in supplier quality audits, driving FACA efforts, project management, and solid understanding of DOE principles

Working knowledge of battery cell manufacturing requirements, cell performance requirements, and their relationship to material characteristics

Strong communication and presentation skills

Ability to travel – 80%
