To support the continued growth and transformation of the ISS STOXX Tax Function, we are seeking a motivated and high-potential indirect tax professional to join our team in Eschborn as Manager Indirect Tax & Tax Compliance – Germany (m/f/d).
This role goes significantly beyond traditional VAT compliance and offers the opportunity to actively shape the future tax operating model of a global organization. Working closely with the Global Head of Tax, you will play a leading role in VAT compliance, Tax CMS, tax governance, tax technology initiatives, and process transformation projects while collaborating with stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Legal, Procurement, Sales, and external advisors.
This position is ideally suited for a qualified German Tax Advisor (Steuerberater/in) with strong VAT expertise and a passion for compliance excellence, process design, tax technology and tax governance who is seeking a challenging international in-house role with significant impact, visibility and long-term career development opportunities.
Take ownership of VAT compliance for our German group entities.
Prepare, review and coordinate monthly VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Annual VAT returns and other indirect tax related filings
Coordinate external tax advisors and manage VAT assessments, tax payments, VAT audits, tax authority interactions, and related compliance activities.
Monitor changes in VAT legislation, assess operational implications, and implement necessary changes to tax processes.
Support complex VAT analyses and assess VAT impact from business initiatives.
Take a leading role in the implementation, operation, and continuous enhancement of the ISS STOXX Group's Tax CMS.
Act as Tax Compliance Officer and key tax compliance contact within the Group's tax control framework.
Develop, document, monitor, and continuously improve tax controls, governance processes, compliance documentation, and remediation activities.
Support the development of a robust tax governance framework and sustainable tax control environment across the group.
Identify, assess, and mitigate tax compliance risks in collaboration with internal stakeholders and business functions.
Manage tax-related SAP initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA and SAP DRC projects.
Drive e-invoicing and digital reporting initiatives.
Evaluate opportunities for process improvement, standardization, automation and AI-supported tax processes.
Support German withholding tax processes and controls, including the review of withholding tax obligations, operational procedures, and related compliance requirements.
Drive process improvements through enhanced documentation, workflow optimization, and the strengthening of operational tax controls.
Draft, update and maintain tax policies, tax guidelines, standard operating procedures and technical memoranda.
Prepare written technical tax assessments and provide practical guidance to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with the global Tax Team and stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Sales, Legal and IT.
Support global tax initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Provide training, coaching and practical guidance to colleagues and internal stakeholders on tax compliance topics.
Successfully completed degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, Taxation, Finance, or a comparable field.
Successfully completed German tax advisor qualification (Steuerberaterexamen).
Typically 5+ years of relevant professional experience, gained within Big 4, VAT advisory practices or in-house tax functions of international corporations.
Strong German VAT expertise.
Experience with indirect tax compliance processes.
Experience with Tax CMS, tax governance and controls, and process documentation.
Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA.
Exposure to SAP DRC, e-invoicing and tax technology is highly desirable.
Knowledge of withholding tax processes is advantageous.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills combined with a careful, structured, and documentation-oriented approach.
Strong process and controls mindset with the ability to translate technical tax requirements into practical business solutions and sustainable processes.
Hands-on, pragmatic, and solution-oriented working style with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
Strong interest in indirect taxes, Tax CMS, tax governance, and digital tax transformation.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and effectively in an international and cross-functional environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with confidence in working with internal and external stakeholders.
Confident user of Microsoft 365 and digital technologies, with openness to Microsoft Copilot, AI-supported work methods, and tax technology solutions.
Very good German and English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Strong willingness to learn, grow, and gradually take on broader responsibility within the tax function.
A visible and impactful role within the global ISS STOXX Tax Function, with direct reporting to the Global Head of Tax.
