Data Engineer (all genders)
Full-time/ permanent contract in Düsseldorf or London.
We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our Advanced Analytics team. As a key member of the organisation, this role is responsible for managing and optimising data storage and data models that support business-specific use cases. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, the Data Engineer helps enable cloud-based machine learning initiatives and supports the technical infrastructure required for scalable analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build and optimize scalable data pipelines and ELT/ETL processes to deliver trusted data across cloud platforms aligned with business and analytics needs.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, platform performance and data issues while maintaining data quality, integrity, availability and reliability.
- Contribute to cloud data architecture, data models and engineering standards, and support improvements in tooling, automation, documentation and deployment processes.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, product owners and business stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions and communicate technical topics clearly.
- Stay up to date with emerging cloud, data engineering and automation technologies, and apply new tools and methods where appropriate.
- Carry out other responsibilities aligned to the role as delegated by relevant leadership
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or a related technology field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with advanced data management systems such as Oracle DB and SQL Server, including data modelling, structuring approaches, strong SQL knowledge, ETL tools and large data sets.
- Basic understanding of data science and machine learning concepts, combined with solid Python programming skills, ideally with experience in Jupyter Notebooks.
- Familiarity with real-time processing frameworks such as Spark, plus working knowledge of Linux, Windows and related infrastructure components.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, Azure and Databricks, and the ability to contribute to CI/CD solutions, with familiarity in Docker and data ingestion tools such as ADF.
- Strong MS Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, along with strong communication, analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
