What to Expect
As a Sr. Quality Technician specializing in Blanking Line operations within Tesla's Quality Stamping & BodyTeam, you will play a key role in supporting the production of high-quality vehicles through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. You will work hands-on within the Stamping Shop, focusing specifically on Blanking Line operations, ensuring that all blank parts meet the highest quality standards before progressing to subsequent stamping processes. The successful candidate must be a problem-solver at their core, with a strong quality and customer-focused mindset, with the drive and stamina to pursue relentless improvement - both personally and professionally.
What You'll Do-
The successful candidate must have the ability to meet tight deadlines, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, be detail oriented, and have the ability to work independently. He/she must establish and maintain professional working relationships with both external and internal teams at all levels across the company. Typical job duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monitor and assess blank quality directly on the Blanking Line, surface condition, including dimensional accuracy, and material integrity of blanked parts.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to define and maintain product specifications, tolerances, and quality standards specific to blanking operations.
- Establish and maintain Part Inspection Standards, Control Plan for blanked parts based on product specifications and process-critical requirements.
- Lead and facilitate sorting activities for non-conforming blanks and drive part quality improvements in collaboration with material suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Perform and lead structured problem-solving activities for quality issues arising on the Blanking Line through thorough root cause investigation and the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop and compile best practices for blanking operations and support their implementation across other production lines where applicable.
- Collaborate with the Quality Management System team to assist in the development and continuous improvement of relevant quality processes and documentation.
What You'll Bring-
Completed vocational training in the metalworking field (e.g., toolmaker, metal former, press hardening technician, or a related metalworking trade), ideally with additional qualifications such as a technician or meister certification.
- Experience with QS-9000, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Control Plans is required.
- Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques for class A panels, including surface audit, dimensional measurement tools relevant to sheet metal and blanked parts (e.g., stoning, calipers, CMM, optical measurement systems).
- Proficiency in common MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) is required.
- Excellent, written, and presentation communication skills in English; German language skills are an advantage.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team-based environment to achieve common goals.
- Willingness to work in shift operations when required to support Blanking Line coverage
