We are looking for a Microsoft Windows Server Administrator to administer and operate EUMETSAT's operational Windows Server systems within a predominantly Linux, mission-critical environment.
Background:
The Infrastructure and Data Division (I2D), within EUMETSAT's Technical and Scientific Support Department (TSS) operates and evolves the Multi-Mission IT Computing (MIC) environment providing 24x7 Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms, container management platforms, virtualised environments and software-defined storage for EUMETSAT’s operational ground-segment infrastructure.
You will join a dynamic team responsible for operating, maintaining, securing and evolving the Windows components of the MIC infrastructure as it progresses towards hybrid, container-based, automation-driven and AI-assisted operations.
You shall support:
- Administer and operationally support Windows Server environments, ensuring stability, performance and security compliance
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, clustering and WSUS services
- Plan and execute patching, security hardening and firmware/software upgrades
- Automate recurring administrative tasks using PowerShell and configuration-management tooling
- Restore operational configurations after failures and coordinate with hardware and COTS support providers
- Maintain configuration baselines, inventories and technical documentation, and participate in the on-call rotation
Skills and experiences:
- Expert Microsoft Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, clustering, WSUS and PowerShell automation
- Proficiency in automation scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Experience implementing system hardening and security compliance baselines
- Experience with enterprise backup and disaster-recovery solutions
- Experience implementing Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions (e.g. CyberArk)
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewall policies)
- Working knowledge of Enterprise Linux administration is an advantage
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline from an accredited university, with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to document and maintain technical baselines, operational procedures and architecture diagrams
- Knowledge of ITIL service management processes (incident, change, problem management)
- Willingness to participate in the standby / on-call rotation and, occasionally, in weekend, public-holiday or late-night interventions as agreed in advance

Working Location
This is a full-time position, located either at our customer EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany or delivered off-site from Germany, Czech Republic or Romania, starting in December 2026 onwards. Standby / call-out support and provision of support to critical operations may sometimes be required.
