Are you a licensed psychologist ready to apply your expertise directly to leadership consultation, personnel selection, and high-stakes performance support? French Consulting is looking for an Operational Psychologist to serve as a trusted advisor to Wing and Group leadership at Ramstein Air Base, Germany.
This role blends consultation, training, assessment, and a measure of clinical work, roughly 90% operational support and 10% clinical intervention. You'll advise commanders on team dynamics and human factors, lead personnel selection programs for high-risk roles, design and deliver resilience training, and provide direct support after critical incidents. You'll work alongside strength coaches, physical therapists, and behavioral health coaches as part of one integrated human performance team.
What You'll Do
Leadership Consultation

Advise Wing and Group commanders and key leaders on organizational dynamics, human factors, leadership effectiveness, team performance, and unit trends.

Offer observations and recommendations to support leadership decision-making (final decisions remain with Government officials).
Personnel Assessment & Selection
-
Lead, design, and run personnel assessment and selection programs for specialized, high-risk, and leadership positions.

Use validated psychometric tools and structured assessment methods to provide objective recommendations to selection authorities.
Training & Development

Design and deliver training on psychological resilience, cognitive performance, stress management, and leadership development.

Provide executive coaching, psychological testing feedback, team development activities, and climate assessments.
Critical Incident & Operational Support

Provide direct support following critical incidents, high-stress missions, or other significant operational events, including psychological first aid and post-mission debriefings.

Consult with leadership on crisis response strategies, personnel recovery, and reintegration.

Support Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) program consultation as needed.
Clinical Support

Provide limited clinical intervention consistent with applicable medical policy, documenting clinical encounters in approved medical systems.

You are a seasoned psychologist who's comfortable advising senior leaders and briefing decision-makers.

Qualifications
Education & Licensure
-
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited institution.

Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship or residency.

Current, active, unrestricted license to practice psychology independently in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
Experience
-
Minimum of four (4) years of experience within a Department of Defense or other Federal behavioral health environment.

Experience supporting operational units, deployed environments, personnel assessment and selection programs, or specialized military populations is highly desirable.

Capable of obtaining and maintaining proficiency in operational psychology activities including personnel assessment and selection, executive coaching, SERE psychology support, resistance training oversight, behavioral consultation, and other mission-essential operational psychology functions.
Security Clearance

Current Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
Work Authorization

Must possess SOFA status with access to U.S. military installations; OR
-
Legal authorization to work in Germany and ability to pass a police background investigation.
