Staff / Senior Backend Engineer

Own the backend systems powering thousands of daily hotel bookings
Design, build, and operate our core booking infrastructure, including resilient integrations with PMS platforms, channel managers, and payment providers
Define and maintain a resilient API layer that powers our React frontend
Raise the engineering bar through strong system design, clear communication, and technical leadership
Work directly with the founders to shape the long-term architecture and engineering culture

5+ years of backend engineering experience with ownership of production systems at scale
Experience leading technical direction and elevating standards across a team
Strong expertise in TypeScript and modern backend frameworks (e.g. NestJS or comparable)
Strong system design fundamentals: API architecture, data modeling, reliability, performance
Experience running services in production (CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code)
Proven ability to build and maintain complex third-party integrations
Highly proficient in English & strong communication skills

Experience in hotel technology (PMS, channel managers, OTAs, booking engines)
Experience building booking, checkout, or transaction flows
Familiarity with hospitality distribution concepts (rate parity, availability sync, GDS)
Exposure to distributed systems patterns (event-driven systems, webhook architectures)
Some React experience in transactional interfaces

€110k – €170k per year + 0.3% – 2.0% equity
Relocation support, including temporary housing and EU Blue Card sponsorship if needed
A small, engineering-first team with high trust and real ownership
Direct collaboration with founders and architectural influence from day one

Compensation Range: $110K - $170K
