Job Summary
Global Trading Operations (GTO) brings together the Global Markets Middle Office, In-Country Markets Operations, Markets Reference Data, Markets Trade Control & Supervision, and the Centre of Excellence footprint to deliver a consistent, resilient, and client-focused operating model across products and geographies.
Reporting directly to the Global Head of Trading Operations, the Head, Global Markets Operations, SCB AG will be responsible for leading the Global Markets Operations agenda in Frankfurt, Germany. The role will provide senior operational leadership for SCB AG, ensuring strong alignment with global standards, local regulatory expectations, and the strategic priorities of the Global Markets business.
Global Trading Operations acts as a trusted partner to the business by delivering operational excellence, robust risk management, and high-quality trade support to the Front Office. The function plays a critical role in strengthening control performance, improving service delivery, and generating data-led insights that support informed decision-making, process improvement, and scalable business growth.
Key areas of responsibility include trade capture, trade lifecycle management, exception management, deal management, project management, risk and control governance, T0 control performance, pre- and post-trade operational support, senior stakeholder engagement, and industry representation. The successful candidate will be expected to drive consistency, strengthen governance, and foster close collaboration across Global Markets, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and other key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Instil effective and robust operating models within the Global Trading Operations.
Incorporate strong risk & control frameworks, clear & concise policies & procedures, and optimal business-as-usual (BAU) processes to ensure alignment with the latest regulatory & industry standards.
Delivery of the roadmap aligned with the strategy for Middle Office, which incorporates principles from the Process & Controls Simplification programme, Re-platforming agenda and Fit for Growth (FFG) strategy.
Represent the Global Markets Operations in key business meetings & forums.
Provide effective challenge across the organisation to ensure remediation actions, organisational design and technology development / implementation is best-in-class & covering all scenarios.
Become a trusted advisor to Credit Senior FO mgmt. to enable their strategy and vision.
Management of the Global Markets Operations for SCB AG – service providers across US, UK, Europe, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and India.
Optimise the Follow the Sun (FTS) model to ensure exceptional levels of business enablement and client service.
Drive global consistency and transparency by defining and maintaining a premium catalogue of services and capability matrix.
Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environment in which the Markets businesses operates.
Drive new business initiatives to aid revenue and growth priorities. Promote controlled growth through enabling efficient processes and effective controls.
Lead the ownership, governance, and ongoing stewardship of the Global Trading Operations catalogue of services and process framework, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accountability across the function.
Day-to-Day Tasks
Provide strategic direction to Middle Office processing and control teams, building high-performing, effective, and resilient teams that support business growth and operational excellence.
Drive process optimisation, simplification, and automation to reduce manual activity, improve control effectiveness, and mitigate operational risk.
Manage team performance through regular one-to-one discussions, skip-level meetings, and clear goal setting, ensuring colleagues are supported, accountable, and aligned to business priorities.
Foster a strong “one team” culture across Global Markets Operations, strengthening collaboration, engagement, and shared ownership of outcomes.
Ensure organisational design remains aligned with span-of-control principles, supporting effective leadership structures and appropriate organisational delayering where required.
Act as a strong culture carrier for the organisation, role-modelling the behaviours and leadership standards expected across Global Markets Operations.
Define and execute the strategic roadmap for processes, controls, and technology capabilities required to support controlled and sustainable growth.
Regularly review and enhance the control framework, progressing towards a more preventative, automated, and forward-looking control environment.
Own, lead, and contribute to remediation initiatives designed to address control gaps, mitigate business risk, and strengthen operational resilience.
Develop and maintain documentation that defines minimum standards, roles, responsibilities, and operating guidance across Global Markets Operations.
Ensure ongoing adherence to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Operational Risk Framework, embedding strong risk discipline across all relevant activities.
Establish and maintain best-practice standards and execution guidance, embedding globally consistent and scalable approaches across Credit and Commodities operations.
Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of Investment Banking and Markets businesses, including product lifecycles, operational processes, and the broader control and regulatory environment.
Proven experience leading global teams across the Operations lifecycle, including Global Middle Office management, operations leadership, and risk management.
Strong track record of delivering high-profile projects across regulatory change, external and internal policy requirements, industry standards, and technology transformation.
Established leadership presence, with the credibility, gravitas, and personal brand required to influence senior stakeholders and mobilise teams around a shared vision.
Strong external network and awareness of current market trends, industry developments, and evolving operational best practices.
Strategic and forward-looking mindset, with the ability to define future-state operating models and drive sustainable transformation.
Excellent problem-solving capability, with proven experience in process re-engineering, simplification, and complex project execution.
Data-driven approach, with the ability to translate data and insights into a clear narrative, roadmap, and target-state solution.
