What to Expect
The Vehicle Operations and Work in Progress Monitoring (Production Control) is responsible to monitor the flow of our products through the multiple production shops in the factory. They also manage the build mix and sequence and ensures daily operational performance by identifying issues and execute tactical plans to protect our production output. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed and rewarded. This position requires to work on shifts including weekend and night shifts.
What You'll Do
- Ensure the plan execution and batching strategy, based on all constrains from supply chain to delivery.
- Challenge the production flow to delete & simplify constraint.
- Monitore the flow of the product through the multiple production shops in the factory to ensure that production output is being optimized.
- Forecast and prevent production issues. Resolve issues impacting shop productivity in collaboration with all required groups, i.e., shop leadership, production control operations (material flow), master scheduler, and New Product Introduction engineers, to develop an action plan and lead implementation to facilitate quick recovery and to minimize impact on overall performance.
- Manage build mix of drive units and battery packs for next X hours to align with the mix of car configuration flowing into General Assembly
- Plan and manage the sequence (configuration) of cars flowing into General Assembly based on near term material constraints (or other factors).
- Analyze the root cause of production plan changes.
- Understand& review the simulation flow to improve the overall cost of production.
- Review the weekly roadblock, KPI’s, gap to target and key actions for the shop pit stop.
- Adjusting the plan for production shops based on downstream conditions.
- Pulling the appropriate resources together to develop a plan (e.g. change the near-term mix, deviate to a different part, procure from service) and execute tactical plans to protect production output.
- Identify and articulate the risks that exist to factory due to the current status of the system and set priorities including recommended actions.
- Identify structural issues / opportunities for improvement to the systems, processes or structure based on the operational performance monitored and communicated the back to the Shop Manager and Production Planner to take action.
- Participate in the daily operational review for Production Control to understand and maintain the health of material flow and Work in Progress through the factory.
- Coordinate and support the night shift shop floor manager, leading the night shift meetings.
- Assist with inventory and Work in Progress control activities.
What You'll Bring
- BS/MS degree in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Technical Mathematics or equivalent
- 3+ years of prior manufacturing experience in a similar position
- Fluent in English & German
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing demands and meet tight deadlines with strong follow through
- Extensive budget management experience, forecasting and financial planning
- Skilled in managing projects and cross-functional teams with a broad range of engineering and technical disciplines
- Broad experience with manufacturing and planning systems and methodologies
- Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
- Working in Shifts required.
