Your Part in this Growth Story:
Stonebranch is searching for an Accountant who's interested in playing in the explosive IT automation market. As an Accountant in Frankfurt, you will manage the day-to-day accounting operations of Stonebranch's German and Swiss legal entities — including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounting, VAT compliance, and month-end close — working directly alongside the Manager, Accounting and Finance and in close partnership with our global Finance team. This role requires a hands-on accountant with a solid grounding in German accounting standards (HGB) and the confidence to operate in an international, English-speaking finance environment. This position supports Stonebranch GmbH, Stonebranch AG, our recently acquired Honico business, and other international locations as needed within a single ERP environment and includes involvement in ERP transformation and other finance projects.
The ideal candidate will bring two to three years of practical accounting experience, gained through either a university degree or a completed vocational qualification (Ausbildung), and will be comfortable owning transactional processes from start to finish. The candidate is expected to be fluent in German with professional working proficiency in English, and to demonstrate the organization, accuracy, and follow-through needed to support several entities in parallel. This is a role with room to grow — as you build familiarity with our systems and processes, your scope and responsibilities will expand accordingly.
This position is based out of our Frankfurt, Germany office and will report to the Manager, Accounting and Finance. This is a fully onsite position — 5 days per week in the Frankfurt office.
Your Impact on The Organization:
Transactional Accounting Operations
- Process supplier invoices end to end — verification, coding, posting, and routing for appropriate approvals
- Prepare and execute weekly payment runs across all assigned entities
- Process sales orders and issue accurate customer invoices in a timely manner
- Post daily bank transactions and prepare bank reconciliations, ensuring cash positions are accurately reflected across all entities
- Support and understand AP and AR activities
- Review and process employee travel and expense reports in line with company policy, working with employees and managers to resolve discrepancies
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Participate in and support month-end and year-end close activities across all three German and Swiss entities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to agreed close deadlines
- Support any financial or accounting requests form international locations as needed
- Research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data for the global Finance team
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Support the preparation and submission of monthly VAT returns for the German and Swiss legal entities
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with German accounting standards (HGB) and internal policy
- Maintain business registrations and support interactions with local authorities, external auditors, and tax advisors
- Ensure compliance with local tax and statutory reporting requirements
- Stay current on changes to German and local accounting and tax regulation, flagging impacts to the team
Projects & Process Improvement
- Contribute to finance projects including ERP transformation work
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls
- Support accounting and finance requests from other Stonebranch locations as needed
What You Will Bring to the Team:
Education & Experience
- Completed commercial vocational training (kaufmännische Ausbildung) — for example as Steuerfachangestellte/r, Industriekaufmann/-frau, or a comparable qualification — is accepted; a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- 2–3 years of practical accounting experience, ideally covering both accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience supporting more than one legal entity, or accounting across multiple countries, is an advantage
Technical & Systems Skills
- Hands-on experience with an established accounting or ERP system — for example DATEV, SAP, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics; NetSuite experience is preferred, and full training on our systems and processes will be provided
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
- Good working knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and local accounting principles
- Familiarity with US GAAP is an advantage; experience with software revenue recognition is a plus
Language & Working Style
- Fluent German (written and spoken) with professional working proficiency in English
- Clear communicator, comfortable working within a diversified international team across multiple time zones
- Reliable in meeting agreed schedules and close deadlines, with consistent adherence to accounting policies and procedures
- Self-directed learner who takes ownership of tasks and ad-hoc projects from start to finish, and who works effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting daily priorities
