To support our continued growth in Germany, we are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant who wants to play a key role in building a scalable and high-performing finance function.
As General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records of our German business. You will own key accounting processes, contribute to month-end and year-end closings, support audits and tax compliance, and work closely with colleagues across Finance, including Controlling, Tax and Treasury. Position
The General Ledger Accountant is a key member of the local finance team and works closely with the Controller, Business Unit Manager, Finance Administrator and Finance Working Student. The role reports directly to the Head of Accounting in the Netherlands and has a dotted-line reporting relationship with the BU Manager, ensuring strong alignment between financial reporting, compliance, and business performance. Through close collaboration with both local and central finance teams, the successful candidate will contribute to further professionalizing and strengthening Sunrock’s finance operations in Germany.
Key responsibilities

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) /IFRS.

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities including account analysis and balance sheet account reconciliations

Reconcile intercompany transactions and resolve discrepancies.

Prepare VAT filings in compliance with local tax regulations, and seek opportunities to insource the VAT submission

Post monthly payroll journals

Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules for audits.

Monitor compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Act as a back up for O2C process by managing Accounts Receivables, ensuring timely and accurate customer invoicing and self-billing invoice processing

Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounting function.

Collaborate with other finance teams and colleagues (Central Accounts Payable & GL team, Financial Controller, Treasury) to ensure data integrity

Support in drawdown process by delivering timely drawdown requests to Treasury Analyst
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or similar role.

Strong knowledge of HGB (German GAAP). GAAP/IFRS principles.

Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Oracle Netsuite) and MS Excel.

Experience with intercompany accounting, and reconciliations

Understanding of VAT rules, reverse charge, and EU cross‑border VAT handling.

Proficient in written and spoken German and English.

Collaboration & Teamwork: Works closely with the local Financial Controller AP, GL, and other finance teams to ensure smooth processes. Available to travel to Central Team in Amsterdam on a recurring (Quarterly) basis.

Proactive attitude: Identifies process improvements and takes initiative to resolve issues before escalation.

Stakeholder Management: Builds and maintains positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth financial operations.
