What to Expect
At Tesla Engineering Germany in Freiburg, we’re building the future of sustainable energy by developing innovative power electronics for energy storage and vehicle charging systems. Join our team to collaborate across different engineering areas, solve meaningful challenges creatively and transfer concepts from initial design, through prototyping and testing into real-world solutions.
You will work at the intersection of precision engineering, international standards, and regulatory frameworks—ensuring that our devices meet the highest metrological integrity required for commercial, legal, and certification purposes. This includes direct collaboration with national metrology institutes, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities to define, validate, and maintain measurement performance across global markets.
In this role, you’ll lead metrological assessments and certifications, interpret complex standards, and ensure compliance with the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and other relevant frameworks. You’ll also guide product design teams to embed metrological robustness from concept through production.
What You'll Do
Perform metrology type testing. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot the EUT, review testing scope and pass/fail criteria with NRTLs
Lead metrological validation of energy measurement devices to ensure compliance with MID (2014/32/EU), OIML G22, MessEV/MessEG and IEC 62052-11, 50470-3
Setup test configuration hardware and firmware, post process test results and submit results to certification body
Propose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing and certification process
Write Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing metrology compliance requirements
Support product registrations and permitting applications, manage local calibration requirements and procedures
Research new market entry requirements
Represent Tesla in metrology working groups and standardization committees (e.g., CEN/CENELEC, IEC, MID Working Groups), feeding technical insights into evolving requirements and feed upcoming requirements to internal stakeholders for early adoption
Serve as an expert resource for the compliance test engineers
Work with NRTLs to achieve product compliance target
