As a Development Engineer within BU Microsystems & Photonics, you will lead and support development projects throughout different project phases. Working closely with various X-FAB departments, you will ensure the successful execution of projects while adhering to internal processes and standards.
Your daily responsibilities include planning, organizing, and evaluating experiments. You will ensure that the necessary conditions for successful execution are in place, coordinate activities within the cleanroom environment, and continuously monitor the progress of associated wafers. Systematic tracking and documentation of processes form an essential part of your work.
Another key aspect of your role is the close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Production, Quality, Customer Support, and Engineering. Regular project meetings are used to plan, prioritize, and monitor project progress and activities.
In addition, you will take full responsibility for project management, provide technical leadership throughout the transfer from concept to high-volume manufacturing, and support customer acquisition by serving as the technical lead during customer engagements.
- Develop microsystem technologies at wafer level
- Manage development projects in accordance with X-FAB procedures and standards (e.g. scheduling, coordination, reporting)
- Develop new process steps and test structures in collaboration with the project team
- Perform structured evaluation of experimental results, including optical inspections and statistical analyses
- Collaborate closely with internal departments such as Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, and Process Characterization
- Plan and facilitate regular project meetings to coordinate activities, review progress, and define next steps
- Collaborate with external customers and business partners
- Support the acquisition of new customer projects and maintain long-term customer relationships
- At least 10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in CMOS, Photonics, Microsystems, or a comparable high-tech environment
- Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Engineering, Semiconductor Technology, or a comparable field
- Open-minded, curious, and passionate about developing innovative solutions, combined with strong problem-solving skills
- Proven experience in project management
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
- Basic German language skills and the motivation to further develop them
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken
