Research Associate (gn*) in Molecular Tumor Biology
Fixed-term contract for 3 years | Full-time position (38.5 hours per week) | Compensation according to TV-L E13 | Institute for Molecular Tumor Biology
The Institute of Molecular Tumor Biology (IMTB), headed by Prof. Dr. Frank Rosenbauer, is an experimentally oriented medical research institute focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cell differentiation, tumor development, and immune cell function.
A major research focus is the role of transcription factors in hematopoietic cell fate regulation and their interaction with epigenetic mechanisms. We use state-of-the-art approaches, including next-generation sequencing, functional genetic screens, and transgenic model systems. Further information is available on our homepage and via our publications in leading journals such as Nature Immunology, Nature Genetics, The EMBO Journal, Blood and others.
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our research team. The successful candidate will investigate the epigenetic and proteasomal regulation of neutrophil function. Neutrophils are the most abundant circulating leukocytes and represent the first line of defense against microbial infections. Because dysregulated neutrophil responses contribute to the pathogenesis of numerous immune-mediated diseases, understanding the mechanisms that govern their activation is of considerable biological and clinical importance.
The project will integrate cutting-edge omics technologies with state-of-the-art disease models to elucidate how epigenetic and proteasomal pathways regulate neutrophil functions in the contexts of infection and cancer.
REQUIREMENTS:
A completed Ph.D. in a relevant field
Experience with relevant methods and concepts in cellular immunology
Hands-on experience with cell and tissue cultures as well as common molecular biology techniques
Basic proficiency in the R programming language
Experience working with public omics datasets and repositories
Experience working with laboratory mice is a plus
Publication(s) in a leading journal in immunology, molecular biology, or a related field, including at least one research article authored as first author
Excellent written and spoken English skills
High motivation, willingness to learn, and team spirit
Strong sense of responsibility, organizational skills, high reliability, and flexibility
This is a position in the wet lab, so applicants with a background solely in (bio)informatics will not be considered.
WE OFFER:
An internationally renowned and highly visible research environment within the globally unique TRR332 consortium on neutrophils, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), dedicated to advancing our understanding of neutrophil origin, fate, and function.
An exciting field of work in innate immunology, an open-minded team, and an attractive campus environment where you can pursue your professional interests in state-of-the-art research laboratories and teaching facilities
Salary based on the collective bargaining agreement—pay grade TV-L E13. Classification is determined based on relevant professional experience, and includes an annual bonus and a company pension plan (VBL)
A wide range of continuing education and professional development opportunities to support your growth
A respectful and supportive work environment within a diverse, international team
Numerous support and counseling services regarding health or work-life balance
Many other benefits such as sports programs, a commuter pass, company parties, a cafeteria, or emergency childcare
