What to Expect
Tesla’s Vision Automation Team seeks a highly motivated Quality Vision Technician to support computer vision and edge computing systems deployed across high-volume production lines at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. This role focuses on vehicle quality inspections using camera vision in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about industrial systems, cameras, and real-world problem-solving, with a drive to be on the front line of some of the most advanced production facilities in the world.
You will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing 200+ vision inspections deployed across production lines — ensuring key metrics like precision, inspection rate, and uptime. You will work on troubleshooting failures, validating model performance, and providing direct feedback to engineers during iterative improvements. You’ll be the second responder during critical failures, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal downtime. This is not a 24-hour on-call role, but occasional after-hours support may be required for rare, high-impact system outages.
Tesla provides comprehensive training on all software and tools — no prior experience with machine learning or software engineering is required. However, a strong willingness to learn, technical curiosity, and hands-on aptitude are essential.
What You'll Do-
Monitor and maintain 200+ vision inspection systems across production lines, ensuring precision, inspection rate, and uptime consistently meet or exceed targets
-
Diagnose and resolve system failures promptly using alerts, logs, and real-time data — minimizing downtime and supporting production continuity
-
Perform hands-on installation, calibration, and maintenance of vision hardware, including smart cameras, edge computers, sensors, cabling, and mounting brackets
-
Conduct wiring, network configuration, and power setup for vision equipment in industrial environments, following factory standards and safety protocols
-
Collect, label, and validate real-world image data to support machine learning model training and validation
-
Use internal tools to analyze model predictions vs. truth, identifying misclassifications and providing feedback to engineers
-
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize hardware placement, system configuration, and inspection workflows
-
Perform routine maintenance on line-side PCs and edge devices, including software updates, disk management, and system diagnostics
-
Document issues, failure patterns, and system behavior clearly in JIRA and Confluence to support root cause analysis and continuous improvement
-
Communicate system downtime, failure windows, and recovery status to quality and production teams with accuracy and timeliness
-
Support system upgrades, deployments, and pilot programs across multiple production lines.
What You'll Bring-
(Preferred) 1+ year of hands-on experience in an industrial, technical, or manufacturing environment — especially with electronics, cameras, or automation systems
-
Solid computer skills including experience with file systems, network troubleshooting, and operating systems (Windows/Linux) in industrial settings
-
Basic understanding of electrical safety, industrial protocols, and working with hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, cable cutters)
-
Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation guides
-
Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
-
Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize urgent issues, and adapt to changing production demands
-
Excellent written communication skills with a commitment to clear, accurate documentation
-
Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and processes — especially around edge computing, image data, and model validation
-
Fluent in English; German language proficiency is desirable but not required
-
Comfortable working at height, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery — with adherence to all safety protocols
-
Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
