Job Purpose
As part of the Global R&D organization, the Product Development Engineer will be responsible for project management, product development and customer technical support within the EMEA region in the industrial segment scope. Special focus and accountability is given on the sustainability innovation roadmap. The role requires close links with customers and other stakeholders like sales, marketing, machine manufacturers, raw material suppliers, etc. in order to generate and deliver profitable growth through new product implementation, especially recyclable products, customer support, trouble shooting and product improvements..
Job Dimensions & Scope
The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for supporting the execution of product development programs in-line with the strategic business needs, by overseeing R&D efforts in the industrial market segment for flexible packaging. It requires up to 30% of travelling, primarily within Europe. This position will report to the Product Development Manager.
Principal Accountabilities
Responsible for project management of development programs & coordination with various stakeholders including dedication to Amcor’ sustainability agenda
New Product Development project from idea to launch industrialization in Amcor and at the customer, including project costs management and trial cost budget, in coordination with the Cross Functional team.
Management of the project portfolio in the Innovation Management System and other relevant.
Responsible for Improvement and Maintenance projects on existing products in coordination with Procurement, Marketing, Sales, Product Management and Amcor Flexibles plants.
Close cooperation with raw material suppliers and packaging machine manufacturers.

Coordination and effective communication with several functions and levels in the organization.

Qualifications/Requirements
Formal Qualifications and Experience
PhD or MS degree in Chemistry, Polymers or Material Science
Experience in packaging, plastic processing is an asset
Project management experience
Fluency in German and English
Specific Skills and Abilities
Proactive and able to communicate across organization and able to give presentations to customers
Passion for developing new platforms and advanced technologies
Excellent problem solving and prioritization skills
Ability to build internal and external relationships
