What to Expect
Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg marks a defining moment in Europe for Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Here we will launch revolutionary products on a massive scale, using extraordinary speed, innovation and efficiency. Our employees will ensure that we achieve our goals, and we welcome you to help us write the next chapter of our success story.
Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our environment is fast-paced and incredibly exciting. Tesla moves quickly, so being passionate and self-motivated to push your limits is critical.
Tesla’s GFBB Cell New Product Introduction (NPI) team is looking for an energetic NPI Project Engineer accountable to manage and optimize the planning of the materials of our cell development programs.
This role will focus on owning the full material lifecycle for cell development at our site in Berlin — from forecasting and ordering through global coordination, inventory management, and delivery. You will work on cutting-edge cell programs, master world-class NPI systems and processes, collaborate with global Tesla sites, and directly contribute to accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy and abundance. Development programs run at varying levels of maturity, requiring strong technical engagement, cross-functional leadership, and precise coordination. Working with supply chain, design, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams, you will ensure material readiness for every trial, build, and program milestone ahead of scaling changes into production.
What You'll Do-
Develop an understanding of cell product design, manufacturing processes, and material requirements to technically assess the impact of changes on the supply chain and program timelines.
-
Lead material planning, forecasting, inventory management, and storage optimization for all cell development programs at GFBB.
-
Own the full material order lifecycle — from supplier coordination and purchase order creation through international shipment tracking to on-site delivery and receipt.
-
Partner closely with the Supply Chain team to manage purchase orders, budget forecasting, and cost tracking.
-
Coordinate international material shipments and prototype cell builds across global Tesla sites while maintaining full visibility and accountability.
-
Act as the subject matter expert on Tesla packaging standards and processes, proactively guiding suppliers as needed.
-
Create, maintain, and publish clear daily and weekly material status reports, schedules, and dashboards for stakeholders.
-
Lead and support program trials/builds across all maturity levels (A/B/C-Phase Builds, Development builds, DOEs, etc.), ensuring material availability and readiness.
-
Collaborate with design, process, and manufacturing engineering teams during early development trials and the scaling of product/process changes from pilot to mass production.
-
Analyze complex material data and supply chain constraints to identify optimal solutions, refine vague problem statements into clear scopes, and drive informed decisions with cross-functional and global teams.
What You'll Bring-
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Supply Chain, Physics, Chemistry, or similar)
-
2-8 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain management, program management, or NPI-related fields, ideally in a high-volume or fast-paced environment.
-
Strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), supply chain/logistics workflows, and change management systems.
-
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate incomplete or ambiguous data and turn it into clear, actionable recommendations.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation abilities to influence cross-functional and global teams.
-
High-energy, self-motivated, and collaborative individuals with the diplomacy and leadership style required to drive results in a dynamic, high-growth setting.
-
Experience in automotive, battery technology, or high-volume manufacturing is strongly preferred.
-
Proven track record of solving difficult material or supply chain problems that delivered meaningful impact on programs.
Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
