What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an experienced Supplier Industrialization Engineer to join our semiconductor component team focused on integrated circuits across low-voltage and high-voltage applications. In this role, you will lead supplier industrialization and qualification efforts for semiconductor IC components. You will work closely with semiconductor suppliers, provide technical support to internal teams and external partners, and be onsite as needed to drive urgent issues, resolve capacity constraints, and bring up new vendors. A general sense of semiconductor working principles is helpful.
You will manage end-to-end component development, qualification, and failure analysis activities, coordinate cross-functional projects, and use strong organizational, communication, and data sense skills to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead semiconductor IC component qualification and vendor industrialization projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables in close collaboration with suppliers.
-
Provide technical support and guidance to internal engineering and supply chain teams as well as to semiconductor suppliers.
-
Be onsite at supplier facilities when required to drive urgent issues, resolve capacity constraints, and accelerate problem resolution.
-
Identify, evaluate, and bring up new semiconductor vendors; lead qualification activities to expand the approved supplier base.
-
Perform component-level failure analysis and support root-cause investigations involving front-end (fab/process) and back-end (packaging/test) processes.
-
Apply good data sense and analysis to track project progress, identify risks, and support continuous improvement.
-
Organize and facilitate cross-functional internal teams to address project challenges throughout the development and production cycle.
-
Support qualification testing coordination, reviews, and supplier audits to drive process improvements and compliance.
-
Manage project ramps, issue tracking, and new vendor bring-up activities under tight deadlines with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
-
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to implement preventive measures and quality enhancements.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree a plus
-
5–7 years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, component development, qualification, or supplier industrialization
-
Hands-on or strong familiarity with semiconductor failure analysis, front-end (fab/process), and back-end (packaging/test) processes
-
Proven ability to work directly with suppliers on component qualification, industrialization, and issue resolution
-
Demonstrated success coordinating across teams, managing timelines, and supporting supplier-facing activities.
-
Good sense of data with the ability to perform analysis and reporting using tools such as MS Excel.
-
Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
-
Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, manage multiple priorities, and travel (including onsite supplier support) up to 30% (international and domestic)
-
Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
