For our Sugarbeet Breeding department, line-breeding female components, we are looking for the following position at our R&D site Schlanstedt, Saxony-Anhalt, as soon as possible, on a permanent full-time basis (40 hours/week):

Your responsibilities

Development of elite breeding components
-
Planning, coordination, and execution of complex breeding programs and operational activities

Contribution to the development of new sugar beet varieties
-
Contribution to the development, implementation, and application of future breeding methods and schemes
-
Driving innovation in sugar beet breeding with a focus on developing elite breeding material
-
Close collaboration with colleagues at various global breeding sites to ensure the implementation of defined activities
-
Regular scientific exchange with experts from various RAGT R&D departments
-
Preparation and presentation of structured reports on activities, progress, projects, and results
-
Leading internal cross-departmental projects
-
Scientific participation in research projects in collaboration with various private and public organizations
Your Profile
-
PhD or M.Sc. in plant breeding, plant genetics, plant sciences, or a related field
-
Solid knowledge of plant genetics and its application in breeding programs
-
Knowledge and application of quantitative genetics and population genetics
-
Knowledge of breeding methods and breeding schemes
-
Familiarity with the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of breeding results
-
Fundamental statistical knowledge and proficiency in using databases and MS Office
-
Flexibility to adapt workflows to the seasonal requirements of plant breeding
-
Willingness and physical fitness to conduct fieldwork during summer and autumn
-
Experience in project management and team leadership

Excellent organizational skills enabling you to manage a wide range of projects involving multiple stakeholders

Efficient, organized, pragmatic, proactive, forward-looking, and results-oriented

Team player with excellent communication skills
-
Good interpersonal and intercultural skills

Willingness to travel internationally frequently (approx. 25% of your time)

Very good language skills in German and English, and interest in learning additional languages.
