The Role:
As a Construction Engineer specialising in Cost Optimisation and Value Engineering, you will drive the technical and commercial development of our serial production products by identifying and implementing sustainable cost-saving opportunities. Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and suppliers, you will optimise mechanical designs while maintaining product functionality, quality, and manufacturability.
You will be responsible for:

Driving the technical and commercial optimisation of serial production products, with a focus on identifying and implementing sustainable cost reduction opportunities.

Analysing and reducing manufacturing costs for serial products and complex mechanical assemblies using structured engineering methodologies.

Developing and implementing design improvements to optimise the cost and performance of mechanical systems.

Simplifying complex assemblies while maintaining the required functionality, quality, and product performance.

Evaluating and developing alternative technical solutions with consideration for cost, manufacturability, and quality.

Performing cost analyses and business case evaluations based on material costs, manufacturing processes, and machine hourly rates.

Collaborating closely with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing, and external suppliers to implement optimisation initiatives.

Supporting Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering projects across the product lifecycle.
About you:
You will bring:

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

A minimum of five years' experience in mechanical design engineering.

Proven experience in systematically reducing manufacturing costs for serial production products and complex assemblies.

Demonstrated success in optimising mechanical designs to improve manufacturing cost efficiency.

Strong experience using modern 3D CAD systems.

Sound knowledge of product cost calculation, including material costs, manufacturing processes, and machine hourly rates.

Excellent technical understanding with the ability to challenge existing concepts and develop innovative engineering solutions.
