Build and integrate real-world robotic and counter-UAV systems that operate reliably outside the lab.
You will own the mechanical integration of sensors, electronics, embedded computers, and vehicle-mounted hardware, transforming concepts into fully assembled and operational systems. From CAD design and supplier coordination to hands-on assembly and field integration, you will ensure our platforms are robust, maintainable, and ready for deployment.
This is a highly practical role for someone who enjoys building, testing, troubleshooting, and delivering complete systems rather than working within narrow engineering boundaries.
What You'll Do
-
Design mechanical assemblies, brackets, enclosures, and mounting solutions using CAD.
-
Produce manufacturing drawings and documentation for fabrication and assembly.
-
Select, source, and order mechanical and electromechanical components.
-
Coordinate directly with suppliers, machine shops, and manufacturing partners.
-
Design and integrate systems containing sensors, embedded computers, PCBs, power electronics, and communication equipment.
-
Assemble prototypes and production hardware independently.
-
Support integration of payloads onto ground vehicles and robotic platforms.
-
Work closely with robotics, perception, electronics, and systems engineers to translate requirements into deployable hardware.
-
Identify integration issues early and proactively drive solutions.
-
Participate in testing and validation activities, ensuring hardware survives real operational conditions.
-
Continuously improve designs based on field feedback and lessons learned.
-
Strong mechanical design experience.
-
Professional CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360,Inventor, CATIA, Siemens NX orsimilar).
-
Creation of detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
-
Experience integrating electronics into mechanical systems.
-
Hands-on prototyping, assembly, and workshop experience.
-
Understanding of manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and aluminium structures.
-
Ability to work independently with minimal process and supervision.
-
Experience in small companies, startups, robotics, automotive, aerospace, UAV, or defense environments.
-
UAV, robotics, automotive, or defense experience.
-
Basic electronics knowledge (power distribution, PCBs, connectors, sensors).
-
Environmental and vibration considerations for deployed systems.
-
Supplier and manufacturing management experience.
-
Experience integrating cameras, radars, GNSS, antennas, or other sensor systems.
Candidates who have personally designed, sourced, assembled, and tested complete systems will stand out.
Builder mentality: you ship working solutions, not theoretical concepts
Hands-on ownership: you proactively solve problems, even outside your direct scope
Field-driven mindset: you care about what survives real operations, not “lab perfect”
High quality bar: you aim for reliability, determinism, and clarity in your engineering
Startup drive: you execute fast despite ambiguity, and adapt quickly
Mission alignment: genuine motivation to work on defense-relevant, safety-critical robotics
Nationality of a NATO member nation or close ally is required
The world is changing. Exponential technologies are enabling new types of security threats. ATS is committed to staying ahead by building nimble, scalable, and cost-effective defences. We are looking for passionate team members who are eager to create exceptional products, safeguard our freedom, and strengthen the resilience of democracies.
Who we are: Autonomous Teaming is a defence-tech start-up specializing in machine vision solutions. Driven by cutting-edge innovation, our team works on next-generation technologies designed to meet rapidly evolving security challenges.
What we do: We develop systems that enable computers and sensors to operate as coordinated teams, collaborating in real time to counter AI-powered asymmetric threats at scale — including drone swarms and other UXVs. Our mission is to build resilient, intelligent defence capabilities that perform reliably in the most demanding environments.
How we work: We value close, in-person collaboration as the foundation for building complex, high-impact technology, while maintaining flexibility aligned to role and team needs. Our culture is built on ownership, responsibility, and trust — with a shared commitment to growing and building together.
Where we are: Based in Munich, Berlin, and Toulouse, we are expanding rapidly across Europe with plans to open additional office hubs.
