Research Positions (m/f/d) (Postdoc) in the field of the history of energy and residues
The Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology at Bielefeld University seeks to fill two doctoral researcher positions (f/m/d) in the Department of History for a period of four years.
The doctoral researchers will become members of the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) “Modelling the Anthropocene”, an interdisciplinary research programme dedicated to the analysis of historical and contemporary human–environment relations, with particular emphasis on model-based approaches.
The research positions are thematically situated in the field of the history of energy and residues.
Your Tasks
Independent research projects (100 %) on:
- energy flows and energy systems in historical perspective
- material cycles and material transformations
- by-products, waste and residues
- active participation in the IMPRS “Modelling the Anthropocene”Participation in workshops, colloquia and interdisciplinary exchange formatsPresentation of research results at national and international conferences
A connection to the interdisciplinary research approaches of the IMPRS, especially with regard to modelling and quantitative perspectives, is expressly welcomed.

Your Profile

- completed university degree (e. g. Master or equivalent) in history or a related discipline
- a convincing research project within the thematic context of the call

- excellent presentation and moderation skills
Preferred experience and skills
- interest in interdisciplinary research
- familiarity with quantitative methods or willingness to acquire them
- very good command of written and spoken English
