Job Summary:
The Systems Administrator Lead II is tasked with ensuring the technical integrity and availability of critical resources at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) Operations Group (OPSGRP) in Hohenfels, Germany. This pivotal role supports JMRC's mission to provide Multinational Interoperability training to U.S., NATO, and partner nation forces up to the Brigade level within an expansive Live, Virtual, and Constructive Decisive Action Training Environment. Additionally, the position underpins the U.S. Army Europe theater security cooperation plan through active participation in planning and executing NATO and U.S. Army Europe exercise programs.

- Lead and mentor a team of System Administrators, ensuring delivery of high-quality system support and customer service
- Ensure all assigned Information Systems (IS) workstations are operated, maintained, and secured as per AR 25-2 and the System Security Plan.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the software architecture of the JMRC-IS to efficiently pinpoint and troubleshoot issues.
- Lead Systems compliance reviews with Systems Administrators in accordance with DoD and organizational policies.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects among Systems Administration, Networking, Software Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and efficient achievement of objectives.
- Act as a liaison between the systems administration team and other technical sections to ensure effective communication and problem-solving strategies.
- Schedule and manage rotational shifts for systems administrators to provide round-the-clock IT support, ensuring all team members are trained and prepared for after-hours customer service.
- Administer and configure physical and virtual environments across multiple platforms, ensuring the efficient deployment and maintenance of all machines.
- Manage Linux/Windows user accounts, security groups, permissions, and file systems to ensure secure and efficient access controls.
- Maintain all Active Directory actions such as account creation, auditing, profile configuration, security permissions, file structure and organization configurations.
- Manage DNS and DHCP server configurations, ensuring accurate domain name resolution and IP address allocation.
- Utilize various scripting languages to automate system tasks, reduce manual workload, and enhance system reporting and management capabilities.
- Utilize advanced monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Trellix, Vsphere, and ACAS to oversee real-time network and system performance. Monitor and manage system resources including CPU usage, memory usage, and disk usage to ensure optimal efficiency and security compliance.
- Install and maintain all program software and hardware.
- Perform patches and upgrades to ensure compliance with security frameworks and controls.
- Collaborate with Systems Admins, Network admins, Software Engineers, and Hardware Engineers to ensure seamless integration and efficient system operations.
Qualifications:
Required Experience:
- Experienced in Linux and Windows administration
- Must be able to build and maintain effective team and customer relationships
- Possess strong written and verbal communications, interpersonal relations, organizational, troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience in monitoring and managing system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain the systems operating efficiency.
- Experience in setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, turning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
- Experience in monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- Experience in scheduling and managing the installation of system software updates and patches to ensure high levels of security and efficiency.
- Experience in performing hardware installs and configuration, COTS SW installs, security patching, hardware maintenance, and user accounts.
Degree(s) & Experience:
(5+BA/BS or 2+MA/MS) or (8+AA/No Degree)
Certifications:
8140.03 DoD Certification (CompTIA Security + at date of hire and an Industry operating certification such as Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Linux+, RHCSA within 6 months from date of hire)
