What to Expect
Tesla is seeking an Associate Manager to lead the Product Audit team within Customer Experience & Quality (CXQ) at Gigafactory Berlin. You are one of the 2 voices of the customer inside the factory: you own the audit process that benchmarks our Model Y against best-in-class quality, drive cross-functional problem solving from root cause to resolution, and build a high-performing team of Engineers, Team Leads, and Auditors. This role requires close collaboration with Production, Engineering, Field Quality, Leadership Team and global counterparts across Tesla factories.
What You'll Do-
Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~10–15 Engineers, Team Leads, and Auditors across multiple shifts; build clear structure with designated roles, individual development plans, and targeted training.
-
Own the end-to-end Product Audit process: define audit standards, work instructions, and visual references that ensure scoring consistency, validated through Monitoring Audits (MSA) and coverage-rate tracking.
-
Establish and track department KPIs (Coverage Rate, Accuracy Rate, Audit Score vs. Target); guide teams towards forecasted targets through transparent, data-driven communication.
-
Be the customer advocate in the factory: translate field feedback, customer complaints, and market-specific insights into actionable audit focus areas; partner with Field Quality to accelerate issue resolution.
-
Lead follow-up and problem-solving activities (8D, PDCA) across working and executive levels of the organization; contribute to cross-functional initiatives such as the Customer Expectation Project.
-
Benchmark audit activities across Tesla factories (Fremont, Shanghai, Austin); implement and maintain compliance with global audit standards (e.g., E41); represent Berlin in global forums.
-
Plan, procure, and maintain product audit equipment and facilities; own the audit area upgrade roadmap.
What You'll Bring-
1+ years of experience in quality, product audit, or production related management positions in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
-
Proven track record of leading and developing a team (10+ people).
-
Knowledge of Quality Core Tools (8D, FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA) and Quality Processes (Problem Solving, Product Audit, Control of Nonconforming Product).
-
Experience in process standardization: developing work instructions, scoring frameworks, and visual standards that ensure auditor consistency.
-
Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships, resolve conflicts constructively, and lead through influence in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
-
Fluent in English; German is a plus.
-
What Sets a Great Candidate Apart: The ideal candidate builds structure from ambiguity, earns trust through transparency, and relentlessly advocates for the customer. They develop their people with genuine care, drive results through data rather than hierarchy, and thrive in Tesla’s fast-paced environment where speed, impact, and continuous improvement are the standard
Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
