With around 100 people on the team and Series A/B backing, we're building serious infrastructure and have strong traction across industries including insurance, e-commerce, automotive, and healthcare.
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team in Berlin (hybrid). You'll take full ownership of backend features end-to-end, influence long-term architecture decisions, and help shape the engineering culture as we scale.
Design, build, and ship new backend features directly impacting customers
Improve platform performance and reliability to enhance the user experience
Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy
Shape internal development processes and best practices
Bring your own ideas to the product — ownership and initiative are genuinely valued here
Must-haves:
Strong proficiency in Java and TypeScript
Experience with Quarkus or Spring Boot (or comparable JVM frameworks)
Hands-on experience with AWS and Terraform for cloud infrastructure
Important to have:
Strong PostgreSQL experience
Experience with AI/LLM libraries such as LangGraph
Background building scalable backend systems for communications or messaging platforms
Solid computer science fundamentals
Nice to have:
Familiarity with technologies like Kotlin, OpenSearch, SQS/SNS/SES, Lambda, or CloudFront
Experience with observability tooling (e.g. Datadog, Sentry)
Prior work at companies like Intercom, Front, Kustomer, Trengo, Bird, or similar omnichannel/customer communication platforms
